Are we debating or rhetoric? Her policies never changed but her rhetoric emphasized democracy to court moderate republicans.

She didn’t backtrack on any of her stated policy positions.

What are you arguing here? Do you think the Americans that voted for a fascist in Trump would have been swayed if she worded her rhetoric in a more left wing manner? Do you think if she said a different combination of words it would have infiltrated Elon’s twitter algorithm better?

You’re the one denying reality here. The reasons why she lost is more complex than she didn’t run left enough especially when more conservative democrats won their races down ballot

By the way Kamala got more votes than Bernie in Vermont. I don’t think Bernie is in a position to dictate shyt
Doesn't matter what your policy positions are if your daily rhetoric and surrogates isn't geared towards supporting them. Like I said 2 months ago and got clowned for she ran a center right campaign. In fact she was so much to the right she had to steal trumps populist ideas several times :dead: you know you're being outflanked bad if trump is taking populist ideas. Kamalas main surrogates was billionaires like marc cuban and Liz cheney, just nasty work across the board

If Americans wanted left wing populism this election they wouldn’t have voted for Trump. There’s a strong disconnect on why she lost and I don’t think anyone fully understands it. Both sides of the party are just arguing their bias.

Oh and by the way

You can’t get more POPULIST than running on SAVING DEMOCRACY. :dead:

They voted for right wing populism since their was no campaign geared towards the left wing side.

She ran on abortion
Threat to democracy
Fascism
Billionaire surrogates
Liz cheney Fascism.

I'm of mind she would have lost anyway due to biden but I'm not going to sit here and pretend like her advisors did not run a shyt campaign that catered to billionaires and republicans. How you talking about threat to democracy and parading out liz cheney :dead: Probably a 50/50 chance at winning they gave trump a 80%

Do you think the low propensity Americans that voted for Trump know or care about Liz Cheney?

Liz Cheney is more known for being a Republican that flipped against Trump than being the spawn of dikk Cheney.

There’s a strong disconnect here. On one hand you think Americans are savvy enough to see Cheney is toxic but at the same time they vote for Trump? Math ain’t mathing.

I don’t think I know the full reason why Trump won but if I were to guess it’s that Americans decided to give the “left” a chance and what they got was inflation, crime and too many immigrants. These concerns were all amplified by right wing social media propaganda.

Complete ignorance for them to blame Biden for it or to think Biden is an avatar of the left but we’re talking about politically illiterate voters here. These same people think Kamala was too liberal so for you to say Kamala should have been even more LEFT to court Americans willing to vote for a fascist doesn’t make any sense.

I see people keep saying that Kamala should have broken with Biden, the next time you have a meeting with a group of people including your supervisor and you stand in direct opposition of many of their stances, let us know how that goes.

It's a fairytale to suggest that she could break with him. She is the VP to the president. That said, they need to figure it out and quick. I still believe that Trump is a unicorn candidate but still. Democrats need to get it together.
Biden has no real power over her, and he can’t fire her.

He has been in politics forever. He should know you have to play the game to win elections.

I think progressives need to do an autopsy on why Americans would reject their politicians.

What is the kitchen table problems that arise when progressive policies are implemented?

For example if you’re soft on the border then more immigrants will come.

If you’re soft on crime there will be a spike in criminality .

If you’re pro Trans rights you open yourself up to bad optics.

If you pump money into the economy there’s a strong chance of inflation.

Progressive policies need to be paired with “neo-liberal” measures so that there can be a counter balance and avoid blowback from exploitation

Her policies themselves were nothing special from a progressive perspective, and her rhetoric was even less so.

What are you arguing here?
I'm rebutting your point that "Bernie Sanders had heavy influence on Biden’s domestic agenda yet America responded with fully throated rejection. What does this say about America’s appetite for progressive policy?" by pointing out the fact that America didn't reject Sanders-style Populism/Progressivism because Kamala Harris did not give them the option to vote for that. She gave them the option to vote for Mainstream Media style January 6th Centrist Republicanism or Trumpian Right-Populism.

Do you think the Americans that voted for a fascist in Trump would have been swayed if she worded her rhetoric in a more left wing manner? Do you think if she said a different combination of words it would have infiltrated Elon’s twitter algorithm better?
I believe that some determinatively-sized portion of the Americans who either voted for Trumpian/MAGA right-wing "anti-establishment" populism or sat out the election would have been swayed if she had not only worded her rhetoric in more "left-wing" progressive populism, but if she also campaigned on policies aligned with that rhetoric. You're exhibiting Democrat Consultant brain when you frame the problem as Kamala not using the right combination of words to trick the idiot masses into voting for her, instead of understanding that there is actual ideology undergirding politics, and that ideology plays a role in getting people to buy into your political vision and vote for you.

Downballot races are not directly comparable to national elections. They are prone to unique district-level factors as well. The reality is that Kamala ran a national campaign driven by the preferences and worldview of centrist Democrats and she got her clock cleaned. Time for another approach.

the fact you think this is a policy based discussion is hilarious

Joe Biden wasn't Kamala's supervisor at that point, the American voters were. As soon as Biden chose to step down and Kamala won the nomination, he was a neutered dog who should have been put down if it helped her win the election. She was the captain now. He had no power over her.

You have a vested interest in this not being a policy discussion because they ran your policies and got slaughtered.
Progressive policies got her slaughtered. Pumping money into the economy without adequate austerity measures to cap off inflation. IMO austerity should have been focused on the top 1% and big corporations.

Progressive DAs being soft on crime

Progressive border policy which led to an influx of illegal immigration.

There’s a huge blind spot that progressives have that isn’t being acknowledged here why she lost.

IMO the answer is a balance between moderate Liberalism and progressive populism.

Any progressive policy passed in the future needs to have a counter balance in place to block exploitation which will affect Americans broadly. If you’re going to be soft on criminal punishment you gotta make sure there’s deterrence to prevent exploitation

This makes no sense. That boss is not gonna be her boss in January, so who cares about his feelings?

Secondly, she broke away from Biden over what he said post the MSG event.

Lastly, he is the most unpopular POTUS’ ever recorded—goes back to 1980. Why tie yourself to that?

This is not what Kamala Harris ran on.

And this is not what Biden himself chose to focus on in the back stretch of his Presidency. He abandoned his Progressive domestic agenda/wins in favor of moderating to the center on domestic issues (immigration and the deficit) and becoming a foreign policy hawk.

This is amazing.

So many of us are raising the alarm bells when we saw the switch happened in September. They kept going to that stupid well.

Also, those Covid era policies were ending in 2022, and that’s when Biden’s approval ratings plummeted. The data corresponds with that.

Not that it matters because people on here tend to dislike data in favor of what they’ve received filtered down from some consultant.
