The problem with Cenk is that he is first and foremost a populist (the bad parts). He was a Republican growing up and switched over to the left, he is not as defined by left/right as he is by his ego, tendency to otherize or demonize certain groups, and his tendency to emphasize how he (or his company in this case) is the only one telling people the truth and the only one that can be trusted. I've said it before, but he is very much like Trump.

It's funny, if I am correctly remembering Victor Orban's (PM of Hungary) history, he didn't start off on the right. He was liberal as a younger candidate and had a John Fetterman like habit of campaigning in a T-Shrit and Jeans. He later reinvented himself as a far-right politician, with the transformation being complete after he took power the second time in 2010.

Someone like Cenk is much less defined by left/right than by his hunger for power and desire to be a strongman (for the good of the people of course).

Dems won in 2020 doing exactly that though. Biden didn’t win because of progressives. Black people and white people in the rust belt voted him in. Progressives have such a big mouth but they haven’t proven anything on a national election scale beyond that they will sabotage your campaign when you actually do need them.
