The
Kamala Harris campaign reportedly spent six figures to recreate the set for
Alex Cooper’s Call Her Daddy podcast on which the vice president appeared.
Despite the late start, the vice president’s campaign raised more than $1 billion — dwarfing the campaign funding of
Donald Trump. By Nov. 6, however, t
he campaign found itself on the wrong end of 270 electoral votes and $20 million in debt.
In a Friday report,
Gabe Kaminsky of the Washington Examiner took a closer look at just how the Harris campaign went through so much money in such a short amount of time. Included in that spending was $654 million on advertising between July 22 and Election Day.
Harris in early October was
interviewed by Cooper for an episode of
Call Her Daddy, one of the biggest podcasts on the internet with a largely female audience.
For the interview, Cooper had to travel to Harris and the episode was taped in a hotel room decorated to look like her normal set. That effort cost the campaign six figures, according to Kaminsky.
Cooper detailed the process in a pair of TikTok videos.
In the month since its premiere, the episode has been viewed more than 800,000 times on YouTube.
Harris also had the chance to appear on
The Joe Rogan Experience free of charge, but Rogan insisted on her coming to his studio in Austin, Texas. She preferred to have him travel to her, so
the interview fell through.
Trump took Rogan up on his offer and, in less than two weeks, the episode had 47 million views
