We have our issues(housing, battles over immgration too) but I don't feel a weight around my neck as a human. I step outside and we at least try to come together as a country. Even with trudeau being unpopular, it is universal. We don't have a lot of latinos, so maybe that is the difference. They try to help the homeless here.

America sucks, it's the truth. Sorry if that is offensive. Saying "I was born here, my family came here as slaves"... is not a reason to stick around.
Oh ok, how long you been in Canada?

It is what it is. I'm not gonna stress it too much. We already got through one trump term. And I don't think he's gonna get as extreme as people think or they'll end up giving the house and Senate right back in 2026. At this point gotta just hope he delivers on some promises to help save us some money. If he does that he'll already be a better president than Biden in most people's eyes.

This is all bidens fault. He spent most of his presidency giving billions to other countries while Americans could barely pay their rent. And they didn't forget. He also pussied his way out of the student loan forgiveness. He ran on that promise knowing damn well what would happen beforehand. Then to top it off he refused to back out until the last minute and gave Kamala a very slim margin to succeed. Just an absolute imbecile from beginning to end.

The democrats are just out of touch. Trump knows how to play the social media game better. It's their own fault for the position they're in. But fukk it. I'm going back to not giving a fukk about politics. It's not worth the stress:hubie:
This is my hope. He got in last time while riding on the coat tails of Obama's economy. He now needs to 'fix' something. Let's see if he's held responsible when his policies are trash and don't help people.

The trigger point for double digit inflation was cause by the FED under pressure of Donald Trump. You can’t print out trillions, give people huge payouts and not expect inflation when production is declining due to a world wide shut down.

Donald trump caused the economic nightmare of the last 4 years and then he gets to blame on the democrats.

The democrats are so opposed to monetary theory and fiscal responsibility because it goes against their fundamental economic policy proposals.

The FED did exactly what they were supposed to do and reversed monetary policy. Volker did the same thing. The medicine hurts and it hurt then under Volker. But the democrats will never say “hey guys we need to fix errors of what trump did. It going to hurt for a while, but stay with me for a while”

Now trump gets to take credit for a “steroid” economy due to extreme inflationary monetary policy that existed even before the pandemic. And now that the withdrawals and the painful antidote were administered under Biden, he now gets to take credit for a recovery he didn’t even engineer. All because democrats refuse to believe in traditional economic theory.

You’re making a lot of blanket statements here. What should she have addressed that she didn’t?
It's very simple.

People fukking hated Biden. They did. You can say it's fair, it's not fair, whatever. But they hated him.

She should have immediately and forcefully broke from Biden in every conceivable way. She utterly failed to do that, and Trump successfully made this campaign a referendum on Biden. That was her fault for letting him do that.

So how could she have forcefully broken from Biden?

1. Blatantly say that the economy is not working for normal Americans. Throw Bidenomics totally in the dumpster, something she didn't do until too late. And, more importantly, propose real, concrete solutions. Say that day 1, we will put price caps on all groceries and gas. Demonize corporations. Blame them for all of it. Don't even engage with immigration rhetoric.

Say that there will be a rent freeze. Say that there will be federally mandated homebuilding. Stop talking about fukking small businesses. Emphasize price gouging more (this was actually good messaging). Make the campaign about what she will do for the economy.

Talk to young men on this issue as well. Tell them that corporations and oligarchs are the reason they aren't as successful as their fathers and grandfathers. Tell them that only through attacking these structures will they get the American dream they were promised. Cut into Trump's messaging.

Now, could she actually implement all of those policies? Probably not. But it would have given her a chance to win. Trump says shyt he can't and won't do all the time. It works, Americans are stupid.

2. Another way to leave Biden in the dustbin would've been to break with him on Gaza. Not to go full Free Palestine, but breaking with him forcefully would have built credibility on her foreign policy chops among average voters who may not even care about Gaza. Just taking a forceful stance and not blindly following Biden's objectively catastrophic foreign policy blunders in ANY direction would have helped. Obviously I would have liked her to go the leftward direction, and I think it would have helped her with the base and hurt her with no one who wasn't already voting for Trump.

Anyone offended by breaking from Biden is a party loyalist and would vote for her anyway. Doing so would have given her credibility among the younger, low propensity voters and Latinos that showed out.

I'm torn on this. I agree that social media algos create information silos but I feel the people that get radicalized would have been anyway. The algos just made it easier.

I only have a youtube account and sometimes I do get some right wing content but I'm not clicking because I have 0 interest.

That's the thing though - you know it's a right wing video and don't click on it.

The average 20yo who doesn't pay attention to politics might just click on it out of curiosity or boredom. Then they get more and more right wing videos recommended to them every day. Two years later they're far-right extremists who think white people are under attack.

This is my hope. He got in last time while riding on the coat tails of Obama's economy. He now needs to 'fix' something. Let's see if he's held responsible when his policies are trash and don't help people.

When has anybody ever held Trump responsible for anything? At this point we just gotta take the L and give up on that ever happening. :francis:

Trump is the goat conman that ever existed.

We’re going to see the Republican Party suck off Trump for the rest of our lives like they do Reagan if the economy coasts for the next 4 years

nah it makes complete sense *only* because people dismiss the point of primaries

at the very base level, its where you can see voters agree with many or all the points being discussed but simply dislike the individual. and this isn't just an NC thing either
A telling sign was Texas’s Rio Grande area where it was a Dem stronghold for close to a fckin century just up and becoming a right leaning section of the state. And surprise, surprise, it took the state Dems by surprise. Dems never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity

It’s like the Carter/Reagan dynamic all over again.

I wish one day we could get a candidate who talks to Americans like adults.

It feels like someone you know has just gotten shot.

I cannot believe we did this.

I'm so tired of Republicans getting in office off the belief they're good for the economy, even though it takes years for the economy to shift, so they ride high off of Democratic initiatives, and then when they ruin everything all over again, cacs run to Democrats to save them. Then when Democrats aren't fixing the economy fast enough, they vote them out just in time for Republicans to reap the benefits of Democratic initiatives. It's annoying.
