The idea that the media in this country is working with the average American's best interests in mind as they dig for the truth is complete and utter bullshyt because newspapers/magazines/radio and the like are all dead. It's about social media engagement and TV ratings. Does a fair analysis garner TV ratings or receive clicks? No... They are all trying to outhustle one another for a bullshyt story or "take" and truth be damned..

There are still "print" publications and journalists/reporters doing hard-hitting, investigative work for their media outlets, it's just that it gets a smaller share of the attention pie than ever before because, as you noted, social media and (decreasingly) TV are far more psychologically addictive media formats. I still believe that Kamala and other politicians should be engaging with the legitimate print/media outlets and journalists because that practice is one of the load-bearing walls of democracy. I've seen some disturbing posts in here denouncing the very concept of public accountability through the fourth estate because their favorite politician du jour was getting bad press, or allowing bad journalism to color the entire field. That's actually where the BlueMAGA term came from. Democrat partisans adopting MAGA positions on the press and seemingly welcoming the post-truth media landscape. Repealing Section 230 and treating social media sites like news publishers would go a long way to correcting the ills we see in media without throwing the baby of valuable journalism out with the bathwater.
