Trump and other Republicans convinced a lot of people that Democrats were selling the country out to globalization
hang on, Trump was trying to sell the country out as well, but neoliberalism is basically fukking over the domestic the labor force.

It was a joint Democrat/Republican effort, but just because Trump said it doesn't mean it wasn't true.

Yes, some of you are very invested in concern trolling.

You can’t even fukking vote :camby:

In real life, if you want progressive policy, Kamala is your best chance to get it in the whole ass history of this country.

Reaching for ways to push her even more left right now is a detriment to getting her into office.

But at this point i’m sure yall know what you are doing :smh:
If you think Kamala should start adopting ring wing policies and make appeals to Conservatives instead of leaning into the Progressive liberal policies and institutions just say so.

Here’s why this is a problem for Kamala

This is the Democrats' fault in general for poor messaging. They barely even try to defend themselves on immigration policy.

Since at least 2015 when Trump came around they completely let Republicans control the narrative. Trump is going to call Dems weak on immigration no matter what their actual policies are because they don't push back.

Cool, so point out a time where the "neoliberals" tripled tariffs.

Both siding this point is a waste of energy since the original context was some billionaire trying to stress that if Kamala didn't remove tariffs she'd have no path to victory, hyperbolic within itself.

Hang on breh, I'm responding to you talking about Trump confusing people on the failures of globalization. :dead:

Don't use words if you not sure what they mean.

Kamala has already changed her rhetoric against Israel resisting AIPAC. If that doesn’t give you hope that she’ll govern from the left then you’re just being pessimistic.

All these leaks are just indirect pressure from various sources vying to influence Kamala but there’s no evidence that Kamala will listen. She should continue to flirt with them though until after the election because we don’t need any billionaires turning on her and go full fascist.

Tariffs are bad policy don't work and should be removed. Harris coming out against them won't have any real impact on the election. While I agree Lina Khan has to stay in place, this is way too inside baseball to suggest it changes the election. Most people have no idea who she is or her impact.

Nor did Hillary lose because of anything mentioned in the article. She lost because she (literally) ignored the Midwest and by the time Obama/Biden/dem advisers finally convinced her she was wrong, it was too late. Turnout was incredibly low where it mattered and her campaign failed to mobilize base voters.

Hillary lost because she ignored the midwest because neoliberal ideology made it a no-go zone. The point being made by the article and tweets @FAH1223 posted is that ideology influences strategy. Hillary and the neoliberals are anti-tariffs because they are roadbumps on the Globalization highway and inhibit the free flow of goods and money out of the pockets of domestic workers into the pockets of multinational corporations.

Neoliberalism is a turnout-depressing ideology in the places where it matters. Economic populism is a turnout-juicing ideology. If Kamala fills her team with neoliberals, she will not be able to credibly make the arguments that resonate most with the most electorally-valuable voters. She should loudly advocate that she plans to keep the populist Biden tariffs and economic agenda in place to neutralize Trump's economic populist appeal.

If the average voter was policy wonks and cared about nuance, Trump wouldn’t be a thing.
