Players make the decisions. How is it malpractice?
Tua isn't a baby. Tua is a grown ass man. He knows the rules and he knows the game. If he wanted to wear a guardian cap he would have.
It's not for the phins to give him ultimatums that don't make sense.
The team doctors and coaches can tell players what equipment they need to wear. Some coaches/doctors mandate offensive lineman wear knee braces whether their knees are hurt or not. For example -
Bills coach Gailey's mandate: O-linemen must wear knee braces - They do the same thing with QBs wearing a knee brace on their lead leg and flak jackets.
The guardian cap is an equipment choice to prevent injuries just like the knee braces. A coach or front office saying you're not going on the field without a guardian cap isn't some huge violation especially when I don't they can't sign medical waivers in the NFL like they do in college......For context, I had a college teammate who was HIGHLY recommended to take knee surgery, he wanted to play anyway, and was told his leg would need to be amputated if it went wrong, and he had to sign a medical waiver with lawyers present before every game. The NFLPA wouldn't support that type of exemption from the medical so telling him he needs to wear extra equipment is a reasonable request.
