The Heisman, just like MVP, is really just a narrative award. Daniels sat himself up better by feasting on some mid teams in his last four games, and getting in that eight touchdown game against Georgia State.
Ironically, the best thing that could've happened for his Heisman candidacy might've been not playing in the SEC championship game against a team he probably wouldn't have put up crazy numbers on. He left the voters with being able to say he put up 864 yards and 12 touchdowns in two games. Penix, while having more meaningful and impactful performances in the same span, just didn't have those games where he went nuclear.
There's a lot of times when the voters get to far up their own ass with wanting to award a player for the types of seasons you can only see at the college level that they completely lose context for how some of those performances actually came to be. This is definitely one of those cases.

Respect to Jayden on this win. I remember people posting that locker video everywhere and seeing comments of people clowning him (from trolls). He did a lot amazing stuff on the field to keep LSU contending and winning.

Just kind of odd that all of a sudden it’s a problem that Daniels team had three losses even though he had a historically great year, and none of those three losses were his fault.
