Why trade if u know they gotta release him?
Because he's Baker fukking Mayfield. Not only he can play football, he can be a excellent spokesman for any product that you want to sell :troll:.

The Browns may have to offer a pick for someone to take his ass :francis:.

Browns are such an inept organization. If the Browns make it clear that Baker is worthless to them how do they expect other teams to offer up anything significant for him.

They fukked this all up. Baker should have been dealt the moment they decided they would pursue Watson. Day 1 of FA he should have been on the block. If they didn’t land Watson oh well draft another QB or try to grab another FA. Colts probably would have taken him if they started trade talks earlier in the FA process

Nah, biggest issue is that Baker simply isn't a desirable asset right now. Compare the way Matt Ryan handled his business during the Watson negotiation (no PR comments, just told Atlanta behind closed doors he wasn't happy) vs Baker coming out with that long winded statement about the situation, and then following that up a few days later with a trade demand to the Colts.

He's a noisy QB with leadership issues on an expensive 5th year option and he's had two good seasons out of four as a pro. That's why one of the trade partners Cleveland spoke with asked for a pick in return to take his contract, his value is in the mud.
