Newark has improved so much.
Newark has gone from a city that was routinely one of the Top 10-ish most violent cities in the country, in the 90s and 00s, to a city now that probably is only barely Top 30, if that. It's remarkable, and for me the similarity in turnaround with Richmond is notable...
Richmond was also one of the ten worst cities nationally, and is no longer that. It's reverse in public safety and quality of life isn't as dramatic as Newark's but for both to be where they are, from where they were, and still be plurality black (Newark 48.6%, Richmond 42%), is remarkable and something more of us should highlight more...
