Unfortunately, Luka cost them that game. Overdribbling, taking too many bad shots, and just forcing possessions. And then he wonders why he's so exhausted in the 4th. He needs that shyt drilled out of him.
Luka’s dimes and court vision is what got them back in the game in the 4th…

18 assists, second most in an Olympic game. You’re focusing on a couple possessions in the second half where he ate up clock and gave a teammate a grenade.

16-18-10 on a day where his own shot wasn’t falling. But the loss is on him for being too selfish?

I don't really follow bball like that but is Gobert bad in offense ? I thought that with a super tall dude like him, we would be better at racking points in the paint:francis:
Yup, he has a nice touch for a big man imo. But being an offensive threat was never his role. He's getting paid for his defense and rebounding

Imagine forcing a switch on Gobert just to pass away the game winning shot :picard:
Kobe or KD would never :wow:

His strategy was to draw Rudy out and shoot them high arching step back 3s over him... but he couldn’t get the timing and was bricking them...

... but he also didn’t want no problems with Rudy in the paint

... so indecisions and over dribbling.

Doncic not taking the shot is one thing but I'm more disappointed with Slovenia running down the clock and not getting off a shot quickly to give themselves another shot if they missed. It was only a 1 point game.
NBA sensibilities kicked in for Doncic.

They got the possession with 20 seconds left, and he spent half that time draining the clock, and then wasted valuable seconds trying to free himself with Gobert on him. Prepelic got the ball with four seconds left, and was forced to create a bucket for himself.

We all love Luka Doncic but in many ways he's the Slovenian Harden. He fades due to an insanely large workload. He's first in points, 2nd in rebounds & 2nd in assists during the Olympics & this Slovenian team needs every bit of that for them to win. This is the Harden Rockets
Lmfao man y’all be ready for the hot takes :mjlol:

True but he had to know they were down one point right? Drive past Rudy and get the bucket at the rim

Luka shot them out of the contest, and his teammates were the ones making shots to keep them afloat. A handful of his assists were him running into dead ends and getting rid of the ball. France's offense was organic; Slovenia's wasn't. That's because Luka just tried to do far too much.

A couple of possessions?

He was 5-18, and wouldn't really allow anyone else to create offense. It was essentially how the Mavs operate: let Luka rebound the ball and call for multiple picks until there's a mismatch. No matter which way you cut it, it's poor offense.

And this is the EXACT reason why I want to get rid of the box score. Far too many folks have a distorted view of the game because of it. The exact same type of reasoning folks use for Westbrook when thinking he had a good game.

This really isn't a hot take.

Luka's comp has always been Harden. In NBA and in FIBA. They're very similar players given their scoring and play making ability and have similar flaws.......and those flaws cost Slovenia the game tonight.

@Gil Scott-Heroin summed it up well. These are all things we've seen from Harden too.
