No it's not. Megill is a better #5 option than Paddack. Pagan has declined and Hosmer is not a starter on a contending team right now. Unless they flip Hosmer but at that point what do you think you're getting back?

At least with Smith he can play 1B more than adequately, and LF in a pinch and is not a total butcher out there. You're also selling low on Smith especially after we know he was hurt last year.

I'm not a huge fan of the trade but maybe Dom's shoulder is still an issue. I'm no fan of that washed up piece of trash Hosmer but it sounds like if this trade goes through the Mets are going to immediately flip Hosmer. If they can flip him for more pitching it makes them trade more palatable.

Padres gotta sweeten the pot with a prospect imo even though I'd rather chill. The deal benefits them way too much imo.

This. And what can we expect to flip Hosmer for. He’s a first baseman whos OPS is .730. If you start him at first then Pete is forced to DH and your essentially sitting JD or Cano for Hosmer’s bat which is ridiculous.

I’m not that big on Dom but taking Hosmer in this deal is a joke.

Them having Vientos in AAA shows me they really believe in his bat and we should see him this year. I hope Dom kills it and Vientos does so they can flip Dom and have Vientos rake in the 2nd half.
