Just give Jake the blank check
Mets pending FA include:
deGrom
Walker
Nimmo
Bassit
Diaz
May
Naquin
Ottavino
Lugo
Williams
Vogelbach

I would say Nimmo and Diaz are a priority over deGrom and due to injury history and price tag I would probably prefer resigning Bassitt over Jake.
Despite new ownership they can't resign everyone.

Going to the game today. I got $10 tickets off seat geek. Terrible seats but we just gonna hang out in the back by the food, the bridge and the smoking deck. lol

How do you win a trade and it still isn't a good one? That doesn't make sense.
Considering Kelenic's value at the time, we never should've had to take on Cano's contract. Maybe could've kept Justin Dunn and while he may not ever become nothing more than spot starter/end of the rotation type pitcher, we could've used him in another trade before he got exposed as mediocre. So yes, in the long run we're going to win the trade because Kelenic is looking more and more like a bust, it was still a terrible use of resources at the time.

No matter what, Jake is the ultimate priority even with the injury history. You can find another Diaz or Nimmo, you're not finding another Jake anytime soon. Everybody else can wait or you open yourself up to a surprise team stealing him. I wouldn't want the Philly to reunite the 2015 pitching staff or to see him playing in Atlanta or LA.

Even with deGOAT’s age and injury history, under no circumstance can you let him wear another uniform. Pay him whatever it takes

Every time I look at that list, it makes me cringe. I have no idea how its gonna work itself out. Few thoughts tho..

- I think you guys might have to get used to the idea of no more Nimmo after this year. The magic number that's being floated around is $20m per season. I love Nimmo. Not at $20m tho. And if you remember, he hired Boras this past offseason.

- Taijuan's gonna fetch close to 17m per. Are you guys prepared to give him that much? I'm not sure I am.

- Bassitt's gonna get 20m+ in free agency. What do you do with that?

- Diaz is gonna get locked up.

- Jake? I don't know. It depends how he finishes the season (health wise) I just cant imagine a staff with the top 2 guys making more that 8-9 TEAM payrolls, which is what's gonna happen once we give Jake 40+ million per.

:dwillhuh: @ preferring Bassitt over Degrom. You can find a Mid 3's ERA, 9 K/9 pitcher available every single winter. You don't let god level pitching walk out the door in favor of that.

Nah, no reason to overthink this. Jake stays. Period. Prioritize Diaz afterwards, and everybody else can get in where they fit in, Nimmo included.

I understand wanting to keep deGrom but I think they should have a limit on how far they will go. Like I would not give him more than 4 years and I'm sure he will get an offer outside the Mets for more than that. Do you truly mean give him anything no limit? Just don't think that's smart.
