Inslee isn't the only candidate who found the DNC's threat to be, at the very least, a little unsettling. Massachusetts senator Elizabeth Warren tweeted her support for the idea of a climate change debate shortly after Inslee's announcement. In a CBS News interview on Wednesday night, former Texas congressman Beto O'Rourke opinedthat Democratic voters "deserve" a forum "solely focused" on climate change. "I'd love to find a way that the DNC can incorporate this idea into their debate process," he said

Why Is the DNC Stifling the Climate Change Debate in 2020?

Even worse, according to Inslee, DNC representatives also told him that if he elected to participate in any unauthorized climate change forum convened by any other entity, the DNC would bar him from its officially-sanctioned debates as a consequence.

He and any other candidates who are serious about the climate crisis should collaborate and host their own debate/event anyway. They aren't going to disqualify people like Warren, Harris, Sanders, and O'Rourke for doing it. Call their bluff.

No one is stifling his ability to speak on climate change.

Are we going to pretend that Climate change questions won't come up during the debates?

The problem for Inslee is that he's based his entire presidential aspiration on Climate Change. He's clearly an activist candidate and the DNC is right to tell him that entire debates won't be focused around a single issue.

With the number of candidates there's no way to conduct fair debates in that manor.
