The Arsenal
congrats to south africa. funny enough i saw a video from the economist last month shytting on south africa's quota policy to get more black players into the game and national team. it's easy to say people should be there on merit and not race, but when a system is setup to exclude a particular group and the existing stakeholders view the sport as the last bastion of apartheid, you need controversial approaches to break it. i saw comments about how whites are the majority in america but there aren't any quota systems to get them into balance in sports. but the white majority was never systematically excluded from sports so there is no corrective action needed.

and congrats to Kolisi, the first black captain to raise the trophy.

Boys in the spirit of this World Cup I'll be posting some of the greatest (Full) games from previous World Cup's.

My favorite opening game to a world cup since (South Africa vs Australia 1995 WC at Newlands) is.....

2007 World Cup :

France (the hosts) vs Argentina(golden generation at in their prime, the legendary Contempomi at 12, Hernandez with some of the greatest kicking varieties I've ever seen).:wow:

This match was so crazy, i watch it in FULL annually. :wow:

An insane raucous 80 thousand sell out crowd at the home of French Rugby, Stade De France, Paris!

The French commentary was incredible :wow:

One of the best Rugby games i ever watched.

Feast brehs :feedme:

Absolute classic final & NZ/Australia game

Classic Nonu try :blessed:

Australia comeback from 21-3 to 21-17

Dan Carter being clutch at the big stage and shutting all them doubters up

Barrett scoring that final try and getting that torch of being next up

I don't think this Game was anything special compared to anything All Blacks did from 2013 to 2015, they consistently played like aliens from another galaxy for 3 years flat and peaked at this world cup.

it was the All Blacks proving once and for all that they're the best team in professional era. They'd had these very same games against Australia before.

Maybe I'm biased coz they bombed us out the semi's but i had supreme confidence in the All Blacks in this game, even during the mini come-back. I'd watched them do it too many pressure intense occasions like thee 2013 Game of the decade at Elliss Park vs Springboks.

Even the Nonu try was just vintage typical Nonu (GOAT 12)....Matter of fact Rugby World Cup 2015 is the most comprehensive display and execution of high level sport I've ever seen by any team (i never watched Brazil 1970 Football World Cup coz i was born in the 90s)

New Zealand never truly looked anything other than a controlled, balanced, ruthless, march to greatness.

even against us in the semi they just weathered the storm.

I had zero faith in Australia actually pulling it off even during the comeback momentum.

Again this is not yo say that game wasn't crazy but the France quarterfinal was crazy, the Argentina group game was crazy, all rugby championship games were insane. All Blacks were just unbelievable that era 9.Aron Smith 10. Carter 12. Ma'a Nonu 13. SNAKE... add Milner Skudde in the most devastating form and Ben "Mr Reliable" Smith at 15, SBW coming off the bench. It was an insane team.

For me, as someone who lived in NZ for 9 years. It was the cherry on top for that 2012-15 run.

I feel on the part about even when Australia came back, I knew we were not gonna choke. I even thought like that last week that we were gonna pull that game out of our ass and win

But congrats on the WC win btw.

Bro during that 2012-2015 run, I remember having long WhatsApp Group chats/debates with my rugby mad friends

After that game at Ellis Park in 2013 told my friend that's the best Rugby that the Springboks have ever played in my lifetime, and the All Blacks somehow found an extra gear:francis:.

Every Bok player that Game put in a Legacy performance(De Villiers, Pollard, Lou, Vermmulen, Habana etc) , and again All Blacks matched everything we did and Barret came off the bench got bounced by De Villiers and came back and sliced us apart.:francis:

I truly lost hope in us ever catching up to the All Blacks in the modern game. That game left a lot of SA Rugby minds in a shell shock. :wow:

We played at altitude, at our home of rugby at Ellis Park, full strength team, put in our greatest and most complete performance and were beaten soundly.

I've never ever felt that kind of depression before.:mjcry:

That's why when we won in Auckland last year i absolutely lost my fukking mind :gladbron:

Rassie restored a deep rooted belief in our systems, players and style of play under intense pressure.

That's why i was reading English Rugby forums, podcasts and sites all week with a permanent :troll::pachaha:

No one in SA was surprised by what we did to their scrums or how good our defense was, or anything that happened in that game. We'd done it before.

The Bocks should give the Lions a bit of a slap. Will definitely win the series, I think.
Nah breh, this is the most stacked Lions team in a long time.
They are also coached by Warren Garland, who is the one coach that gives the Boks the biggest headaches (2015 Rugby World Quarterfinal, 2019 Rugby World Cup Semi Final all vs Wales).
This Lions team can and has every potential to fukkk us up.

This will be attritional at best.
Scrums, set pieces, physicality, territory, defensive systems, kicking etc its gonna be a grand chess game :wow:

Yeah, I hear you, and I love Gatland. Being a Welshman, he has given me so many great sporting moments!! I was at the WC game in Japan, and also on the last 2 Lions tours.

I just think that this Springbok side is really good in all of the areas that are most difficult for the Lions to get right, and Alun Wyn Jones is a massive loss, as he's an extension of Gatland on the pitch. A proper warrior. I also think that the loss of the traveling fans will be a massive factor. The Lions will miss them. I also think that Connor Murray is shythouse, and Faf will give him fits.

Man, I just hope it's a great series, and I think that you are on point when you say attritional!!
