I have no idea what sci-fi is apparently

Would never think of Jurassic Park or even BTTF.
Jurassic Park to me is more action/adventure...I never thought of it as Sci-Fi either; but I can see why some people would; back to the Future I don't know how to categorize it but its not top 10 for me on any list

back to the future is certified scifi, jurassic park is borderline as fukk and I wouldn't really classify it as such, but if said person wants to put it on their list I'm not going to argue about it forreal

Jurassic Park is a Sci-Fi Adventure Film. Back to the future is a Sci-Fi Comedy Adventure film. "Gravity" is a Sci-Fi Thriller film. Science Fiction is defined by:

Science fiction is a genre of fiction dealing with imaginative content such as futuristic settings, futuristic science and technology, space travel, time travel, faster than light travel, parallel universes and extraterrestrial life. It often explores the potential consequences of scientific and otherinnovations, and has been called a "literature of ideas".[1]

I think some people have the wrong idea of what Science Fiction is. Science Fiction is not 1 dimensional. "Fifth Element" is Science Fiction that has comedy in it. So how is a movie about genetically modified Dinosuar's and a Doctor who creates a time traveling machine not Science Fiction with the subjects they deal with are based on Scientific Theories of genetics and space time continuum?

Jurassic park is clearly science fiction for the simple fact that the basic engine of the movie is science. Engineers taking DNA and modifying it to create dinosaurs. Same with back to the future. On the real, bill and Ted is science fiction too. Science fiction doesn't mean dystopian world or space or aliens or far off planets.

I would consider "Star Wars" as Sci-Fi Fantasy or Sci-Fi Adventure Fantasy but it's still Science Fiction. There are a lot of subgenre's in the Sci-Fiction mold.

I get how the Star Wars films hold a special place in people's hearts but them joints were action serials in movie form to me. I would never put any of them on a best list of movies though.
The Terminators are action movies too. More so than sci-fi at their cores.

Agree on the Terminators...I never saw them as Sci-Fi either, but I won't argue if they are someone else's list

I flirted with putting Brazil on my list and the day the earth stood still
