I realize most here are only interested in schools that are in the Autonomy 5 conferences but I didn't want to start a new thread and figured some are interested in things like new stadiums, uniforms, etc. I'm sure many are aware that Baylor is finishing up a new $250 million stadium but Houston and Tulane are also opening new stadiums. I can't speak for Tulane but we (Houston) spent less than half as much as Baylor on our stadium at about $120 mil. Unfortunately that's what happens when one school spends two decades in a power conference as opposed to CUSA. Baylor's stadium will also hold 45,000 compared to ours which will hold 40,000 plus standing room. I only bring up Baylor to give some context of the financial limitations that most schools that aren't in a major conference have to deal with.
With that said TDECU stadium is nearing completion and I brought some pics and a quick video:
Just a few more quick notes: The playing surface is field turf with the 'HOUSTON' endzone featuring an image of the city's skyline and the 'COUGARS' endzone has the school's logo. The team will have the option of entering the field from the tunnel or walk thru the crowd. When walking thru the crowd they will pass the club section that is separated by glass similar to how the Dallas Cowboys walk past fans as they take the field. In addition to the club section, which will take up an entire level on the home side, there will be party decks for large groups and an open concourse so fans can see the field while they stand in line at the concession stands.
If you're in H-town this fall slide thru the Tre and come enjoy a game. We have great tailgating, Frenchy's chicken, sell beer in the stadium, and of course we got some bad Houston women.
