Trust me, I saw the 2008 bowl gifts first hand when michigan went to the citrus CAP 1 bowl

THEY'RE GETTING MORE THAN $450 GIFT CARDS...

i mean, my boy got the OG Ipod Touch when it was like $500, and a watch, and like 5 other baller things....any bowl Gator and higher is getting laced right now, even read an article about michigan getting dope gear for their pivotal bowl match up this year.

The bowls are capped at $550 in value. Most aren't spending above that if any. Keep in mind the school can give them gifts as well which likely accounts for the stuff you saw. SEC players come up from going to the SECCG:

SECCG gift from the conference
SECCG gift from the school
Bowl Gift from the Bowl
Bowl Gift from the school.
