Another win, another move up the college football rankings for the Florida Gators.

The Gators (6-0), fresh off a 31-17 win at Vanderbilt on Saturday night, moved up a spot to No. 3 in the latest Associated Press poll released Sunday. UF moved up two spots in the USA Today coaches' poll to No. 4.

Florida took over the No. 3 position previously held by South Carolina. The Gamecocks (6-1) lost 23-21 at LSU on Saturday night and dropped to No. 9.

Florida will host South Carolina at 3:30 p.m. Saturday and will be televised by CBS. ESPN College Gameday will also be in Gainesville that day.

Alabama and Oregon remain Nos. 1-2 in the AP rankings, while Kansas State is No. 4 and Notre Dame is No. 5. LSU, Ohio State, Oregon State, South Carolina and Oklahoma round out the Top 10. FSU remains at No. 12.

The first BCS Standings will be released at 8:30 tonight on ESPN.

The Swamp
Defense is gonna beast. I don't think Driskel lives up to the hype and Brissett will be our QB.

I'm taking this year as another re-building year. Can't wait until we get Fred Taylor's baby boy in the backfield and get a legit running game again :jawalrus:

Glad I was wrong. I've done a complete 180 on Driskel and became his biggest fan

I see u still reelin' from that raping USC put on the puppies :umad:

Nah. It was one loss. All our goals are still in front of us...ironically enough I'll be pulling for a Florida victory on Saturday. And if y'all lose I'll be good either way.

We'll be back in Atlanta when it's all said & done :troll:

UF injured football players to return for Saturday's game against South Carolina | Gatorsports.com

Although the Florida Gators limped home from Nashville with a rash of injuries, they should be close to full strength for Saturday's SEC East showdown in The Swamp with No. 9 South Carolina.

That was the word Monday from UF coach Will Muschamp.

“I expect to have (linebacker) Jelani Jenkins full speed and ready to go,” Muschamp said. “(Defensive end) Dominique Easley should be ready to go. (Center) Jon Harrison should be ready to go. (Wide receiver) Latroy Pittman will be questionable with an ankle.

“(Offensive guard) James Wilson should be fine and (offensive tackle) Xavier Nixon should be fine. So, we're hopeful to have all those guys back. They're all definitely going to be fine or probable at worst, except Pittman.”

Jenkins, playing with a cast on his fractured thumb, injured his hamstring in the LSU game and dressed for the Vandy game, but was unable to go.

“Yeah, (he's full go for Saturday),” Muschamp said. “He hasn't been playing because of his hamstring. He will be wearing a cast. They have modified it down a little bit, so it shouldn't be as restrictive as it has been. He should be good to go.”

Jenkins broke his thumb in the first half of the Texas A&M game and missed the Tennessee and Kentucky games. He returned for the LSU game but pulled his hamstring in the first half.

Jenkins was one of nine Gators who were injured going into the Vanderbilt game, or left the game with injuries.

UF played most of last Saturday's game without three starting offensive linemen — Wilson, Harrison and Nixon.

Wilson injured his eye in practice last week and did not make the trip to Nashville. Harrison (elbow) and Nixon (upper body injury) were injured in the game and did not return.

The positive news is that Ian Silberman, Sam Robey, Kyle Koehne and D.J. Humphries were solid playing in relief of Harrison, Wilson and Nixon, and gained some experience and likely improved the depth on the offensive line. Silberman made his first start in place of Wilson at left guard.

“They did a nice job,” Muschamp said. “Vanderbilt gave us a lot of looks and a lot of movement up front, and I'm very pleased with how those guys progressed in the game. It certainly makes you have a better comfort level as you move forward.

“They've played in those situations and they've played on the road and they've had to make adjustments in the game and play against good people. That's what they did. I'm certainly pleased with how they played.”

Quarterback Jeff Driskel said he felt comfortable behind his line even with the three starters out. He had touchdown runs of 13, 37 and 70 yards and finished with 177 yards rushing, a UF record for a quarterback.

“Whenever you have three starters go down, that's huge, especially three offensive linemen,” Driskel said. “But we had three guys who stepped up. That's what we've been doing all year long. When a guy goes down, the next guy is going to have to step up.

“We have great depth and it really helped out on Saturday.”

The Gators had two other offensive players injured in the game. Pittman sprained his ankle in the first half and did not return. Tight end Jordan Reed (head) also was injured in the first half, but he returned in the second half and is expected to be 100 percent for Saturday's game.

Easley, a defensive starter, experienced some swelling in his knee last week and did not play against Vanderbilt, although he did make the trip. He sat out the Kentucky game after injuring his knee in the Tennessee game. It is the same knee he had ACL surgery on last December.

Two other key players — offensive tackle Matt Patchan and cornerback Cody Riggs — continue to be out.

Patchan has a strained pectoral muscle and has not played this season. Riggs has missed the last four games after sustaining a fracture in his foot against Texas A&M.

Because Riggs is a true sophomore, he is eligible to apply for a medical redshirt this season if he continues to miss games. But Muschamp said it's too early to make that decision.

“I don't know. We haven't really talked about that,” Muschamp said. “We're going to try and get him on the field and run him a little bit today, but he won't play this weekend. Maybe for next week. We still have half the season to go.

“Patchan, I would not say for this week, possibly next. I'll update you more next week.”

How long has Matt Patchan been in college? It seems like he's been on the team forever now, but he's always been injured.

ALWAYS injured. I know for a fact he was on the 2008 national title team and actually got some burn too. Dude should be in the NFL right now but he'll never make it. Injury prone.

Spurrier: Marcus Lattimore may not start vs. Florida

Scout.com: Spurrier: Lattimore may not start vs. Florida

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - South Carolina running back (AP) Marcus Lattimore did not practice Wednesday because of a bruised hip and coach Steve Spurrier said his junior star might not start Saturday against No. 3 Florida.

Spurrier had said Lattimore was running well earlier in the week, but the injury kept him out of Wednesday's workout. Lattimore arrived at practice let and watched from the sidelines.

If Lattimore can't go, Spurrier says backup Kenny Miles and freshman Mike Davis would handle the load at tailback when the ninth-ranked Gamecocks (6-1, 4-1 Southeastern Conference) go against the Gators (6-0, 5-0).

``We're sort of banged up all of a sudden,'' Spurrier said.

Spurrier said an injury like Lattimore's generally takes a week or two to heal. Lattimore had a touchdown, but gained just 35 yards on 13 carries in ninth-ranked South Carolina's 23-21 loss to the Tigers.

Spurrier has gone back-and-forth on Lattimore's condition since Sunday. At first, he expected Lattimore to miss a couple of workouts, but said Tuesday that Lattimore had looked OK during Monday's session and expected him to play at The Swamp on Saturday.

Then came Wednesday's twist.

Lattimore is sixth among SEC rushers with 584 yards. He's tied with Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel for the SEC lead with 10 rushing TDs.

``It's not surgery type things,'' Spurrier said of Lattimore's condition. ``It appears it's something that'll be fine in a week or so.''

Lattimore tore ligaments in his left knee while blocking against Mississippi State last year, an injury that cost him South Carolina's final six games in 2011. He had offseason surgery and has looked strong this fall.

Spurrier detailed several other key players dealing with injuries and illnesses.

He said sophomore defensive end standout Jadeveon Clowney had a foot problem that has limited what he can do at practice. Defensive tackle Kelcy Quarles had his arm in a sling because of a shoulder injury and is doubtful to play against the Gators. Defensive linemen Byron Jerideau and J.T. Surratt are also hampered by injuries, although both are expected to play.

And then there's the flu bug, which Spurrier said has kept some Gamecocks from working out this week. Punt returner and starting receiver Ace Sanders missed practice Tuesday while receiver Bruce Ellington was out on Wednesday.

Spurrier was hopeful all players hit by the flu could play on Saturday.
