One of the biggest tragedies in hip hop is that we never got a Killa Sin solo.

People always talk shyt to me about it

But i always felt that 98-00 run of wu was just as dope as the origibal run. Sure more mediocrity seeped thru but basically ya talking double the projects dropped in those 2 or so years than the previous 5 combined

Supreme clientele
Blackout
Ghost dog soundtrack
The W
Bobbu digital in sterio
The pillage
Tical 2000

Gza, odb, rae still dropped solid albums in 99 (talk what u want boyt rae... immobilarity still got like 10 dope cuts and dude has like 10 high profile features from that era on top of it)

Wu always hid cuts on soundtracks, cimpilations, etc so its hard to judge where they were at the time but think about it... every single comp, soundtsck, mixtape from the era features wu tang in some way shape or form going well into mid 2000s. Songs like cobra clutch and 97 mentality were crazy popular yet showed up on the swarm...How high was incredibly popular and it was just a ost cut. And they werw on EVERYONES album in some way shaoe or form. Odb. Ghost. Rae. Meth and deck were all over in 989900

for example rae, hes on the lead single/video for fat joe, outkast, slick rick, tash, Onyx, funk flex And cocoa brovas albums.. AND The black and white FILM...while promoing his own album. Yet talk about rae in 98/99 now all everyone says is “immobilarity was wack”... you can easily make a SIX mic immobilarity just replacing the eh tracks with the songs that were FEATURED SINGLES on other albums.

Total domination of the industry. Yet people say they fell off... they just dont realize theres 30 banging songs floating around the era of their so called “mediocre” albums

Another myth is the rza fell off in 97.

I read an old article that confirms for me what i already stated, rza said his production PEAKED on Ghost dog. 98-00 rza had SERIOUS gems.. its just he broke off everything into 20 albums instead of 7.

Had the wu kept those projects closer knit (impossible really with so many dudes on so many labels) they woulda had the game in a chokehold for another few years but... they dropped wu forever in the middle of the jiggy era (after big died at that).. after losing home town radio support thats when people started talking “wu fell off” not realizing they were still top of the game

One of the most level headed and truest statements ever made on the coli. 110% fact

Wu-Tang is the only group that had/has over 100000000000000000000000 affiliates that make dope music
and then those affiliates also make dope music then that shyt just springs off
There used to be a mega thread on wutangcorps where people used to upload rare Wu tracks..like 100 pages DEEP
I LOST EVERYTHING

@ZEB WALTON You familiar with that thread? I know it's more of y'all from back then (I was a heavy lurker)

I remember that dude CONCEITEDMONKEY used to go in on everybody :dead:

:ohhh: Breh I missed this part... Clue me in on what the rift was...

Just Sunz feeling KP dropping his solo the same year was making the group compete with itself, people in Wu kind of agreed & sided w/ Prodigal/Razah while KP did his own thing.

That's why KP's next few albums have no Wu/Sunz features, the second Sunz album has no KP & he only guests on GZA BTS & Cap's 2nd until the mid-2000s when they start hashing things out.

Meanwhile Razah & Prodigal guest on a good amount of Wu releases all through that time.

Razah & KP mended fences a little before Prodigal & KP, but it was mainly just resentment over the business of how 98 shook out & self interest vs group interest.

Yea bro. Def. corp was a dope site for a long time. Curca 2000-04. Fell off mad hard. Cant talk about any album without a gay joke; people round here pretty much give it the euro cac tag and its a joke but i still try n spice shyt up. That thread filled with dead links. Im in the middle of trabsferring my fav wu songs to playlists for the iphone now and recouping on a lot of ahit. Try aoulseek theirs a LOT of guys on there with everything; all the chambermusik releases, rare wu corp shyt, the websites files it used to have, etc.

Found a lot of my old shyt on there try it out.

Royal fam
Sunz of man
Killarmy

The holy trinity of wu killa bees

Royal fam was actually my fav of the 3.

My fav wu track of 98 is either execute them or windpipe (orig from supreme clientele)

Anyone else feel put ya hammer down shoulda went on decks album? Woulda made up forbthe lack of features and fits with his albums vibe. I put it on my version.

Anyway. Yea 98. Method man. New years eve. Dangerous ground in times square. shyt was crazy.

Rza bobby bobby bobby digi digi digi

Killah priest and sunz... i slept for a couple years actually. I was a killarmy/cappadonna guy instead.

Dirty weaponry holocaust abusing the songs. Good lil album still imo.

I found la the darkman album by accident. Saw the w and bought on sight. The power of that symbol. This is prolly my fav killa bee solo album ever. Production was flawless. It made sense when dude became successful later on cuz he knew what to do and picked the right production. Dont aleep on his mixtapes yall. Las dope.

Caps album was big for me. Loved it. Had the album pics in my locker no homo.

Kid tried to steal my tical 2000. He was a lame i woulda died for that shyt right then that day. T2 was the MOST anticiapted album imo of the era...And its dope i cant STAND people who shyt on this album.

Saw in article rza said he put out swarm with zero promo (tho i remember adverts in source so idk) just to see if itd sell and i tbibk even that went gold.

BDIS is a freestyle album.

Now, most of the guests spit prewritten verses and some concept tracks like Domestic Violence were worked out ahead of time (plus the bonus RZA tracks at the end), but RZA on this album wanted to copy ODB's style of spitting off-top as the beat's running until he gets stuck, then rhymes some more and later edit it all together into a verse. You can hear an example of an uncut session from RZA's promo b-side release on Stress Mag for NYC Everything/"Do You Hear The Bells?"

That's crazy, I never knew that. I actually listened to that album a few weeks back. After reading what you said it definitely makes sense and you can totally tell, now that you've pointed it out. Great album, this makes it even a little better.

I was at a wu show and everytime RZA fukked up and forgot his lyrics he'd stop everything and just start freestyling, for a bit to. Happened 4/5 times. You could tell the other guys were getting pissed. He was drunk as shyt
