Mos def was trash when I saw him live in 2013, getting his reprieve with Kweli in a month. Hopefully he performs Mathematics.

Dude was the perfect bridge between the underground and mainstream. Dude was a star

He really was and it's such a shame to see what hes become :to:

His acting wasn’t that bad either I used to just let the last track instrumental play all day:mjcry:

Dude was in movies with Jack Black, Bruce Willis, Mark Whalberg and Jason Statham, Sanna Lathan on top of getting radio spins. Now he hasn't had a movie role in years, yet Common keeps getting acting work :scusthov:

Was supposed to be doing a show with Robert Glasper in DC a couple weeks ago and didn't show up. I had to settle for a nikka from Slum Village and a homeless looking Michelle N'Deangeleogngogo who didn't open her eyes the whole night

Yasiin Bey's (fka Mos Def) 'Black On Both Sides' just turned 20, so I had to put out this mixtape in tribute to one of the most influential albums in my life. In 1999 when the jiggy era of hip hop was reigning, Rawkus Records and Mighty Mos were carrying the torch for that real underground hip hop sound. This classic LP covered a wide range of topics including the global water crisis, the shady music industry, love, police harassment, and even an ode to his parents.
The production was just as dope & diverse as the lyrics, featuring beats from DJ Premier, Diamond D, Ali Shaheed Muhammad, Ayatollah, Psycho Les, Mr. Man of Da Bush Babees, 88 Keys, and more.

On my tribute, I've included album tracks, loosies and remixes, as well as the original samples & my own custom blends.

Much thanks to Psycho Les, Mr. Man of Da Bush Babees, and DJ Mighty Mi.

In the Silver Lining
One solo album wonder.
Masterpiece though.

It was in the cards for him to make this one classic piece of work.

Think about what could have been :mjcry:.
Thankful for what was provided :ohlawd:

It's a classic and his best album but i wouldn't say it's his only good album. The New Danger is a solid, fascinating album. I know few agree but I love True Magic. And of course The Ecstatic is a great album.

I agree he is allowed to go off the "traditional" hip hop script a lil bit. No problem with that, but he went off 3x times and never came back to the roots.... :snoop:.
