Looks like early RoH. Crazy never seen this footage

The crazy thing is that Paul actually wanted to do that type of style to rebuild ECW, but sadly "money and bounced checks". Just imagine if Paul actually had the ability to just do bookings and allow somebody with a brain and a soul do all of the financial work? We would be chanting ECW right about now.

Sadly "money" which is always the bane of professional wrestling. You gotta put asses into seats and WWF saw that was real with the talent. The promotion became a buffet table for Vince and em:francis:

I wonder how close he really was to getting a deal on HBO. Could've been huge

Paul heyman really was a snake oil salesmen. Now he's doing what he really wanted to do all along making bread with Wwe.

A majority of the ecw alumni are either drug fiends, pornstars, homeless, or dead.

The few who aren't were either talented enough to gets jobs else or smart enough to jump off the ship before it sunk.

Crazy how WCW and ECW ended in the same year. :wow:

every time I look at WCW’s 1998 roster I get angry.

How does THAT roster end up as a dead company
3 years later, like you gotta do a LOT of things wrong to have that roster and not succeed in spite of yourself

I LIVE IN A CARDBOARD BOX!
I've seen that footage before, but it's been years. Rhyno (the last ECW Champion) said in the Rise & Fall of ECW documentary that he didn't go out and participate in the farewell festivities, because he refused to believe that it was over and it was only weeks later after checking the ECW website that his deepest fear had come true. Didn't Heyman already have a job with Vince before ECW died? I thought I remember hearing that in the Forever Hardcore documentary, but it's been awhile.

I'll give ECW props for taking wrestlers who were considered misfits in any other organization and making them into legit stars. It made Tazz and Rhyno absolute bad asses, made weird and deranged wrestlers like Sabu and Raven palatable, and gave veterans like Terry Funk and Bam Bam Bigelow one more good run even though they had other less than stellar runs after this. And somewhere between all of that - you had a place for people like Tommy Dreamer, RVD, The Dudleyz, New Jack, and Sandman.

:salute: ECW.

Yep Heyman was in WWE and filming some shytty movie with LL Cool James while his company was failing/he was bouncing checks. Good riddance. Never got the fascination with ECW. Outside rvd, taz, and a few of the smaller guys their product always sucked. I still maintain that a sabu/sandman ladder match from one PPV is still one of the worst I’ve ever seen

It was cool and edgy at the time compared to the cartoon characters in WCW & WWF, but it definitely has not aged well at all. I cannot sit and re-watch any shows from start to finish.
