19yo Bron played three minutes in the game, shooting 1-1 (a three-pointer), yet the first two pages are mostly about him. He lives in their heads. :dahell:

Iverson/Wade combined to shoot 4-20 in the game while Argentina's guards were 11-22 from 3pt alone. That's where the blame has to lie.

Duncan unfairly gets blame but the officiating against him was wild bad all tournament long and especially in that game. He fouled out in just 20 minutes and this is international ball where other bigs get away with all sorts of rough play.
Yup, the officiating was the reason Duncan stopped playing FIBA ball altogether. Dude was fed up with the refs.

This. Anyone who actually watched those Olympics could tell you that. Even Melo & Wade agreed with that sentiment.
Like they had no choice but to assemble the team with a lot of youth

Shaq, Kobe, KG. Kidd, T-Mac, those guys were usually All-NBA team winners back then and none of them showed up for 04 team. Besides Tim Duncan.

None of the championship Pistons players were on that team. They should have let larry brown go home, even though he won in 03 with team USA, but that squad was mostly veterans and no rookies.

Most of the 03 squad that ran thru everybody the year prior

J-Kidd
T-Mac
Vince
Jermaine O'Neal
Mike Bibby
Ray Allen
Elton Brand

Kobe was supposed on the 03/04 teams too but injuries/Colorado happened
Easily!

That 03 Team was supposed to be in Olympics. Too bad it was far away from that when Olympics started.

It was a well balanced team. You had shooters like Ray, Bibby, you had athleticism in guys like T-Mac and Vince, playmaking in J-Kidd and legit presence in the paint like Tim or Jermaine.

That squad is winning Olympics for sure. They wiped out Argentina in 03 finals something serious.

Shoutout to the 2000 Team

they are mostly forgotten, but they would wipe the floor with the 2004 and 2021 teams

He and Marbury were ultimately the reasons why they lost. Neither could adapt to FIBA play, on both ends of the floor. That really was the turning point for Team USA where they steered away from those type of guards and for good reason. I know a lot of A.I. stans back then wanted to wipe that Olympics campaign from existence.
Marbs saved them in the Bronze medal game scoring 35 and carrying the team.

"Disbelief on his face" Duncan was in full display that entire Olympics.

Nah, Marbury dropped like 30 in quarter finals against Spain

He did well in all three elimination games. He was pretty bad in group stage.

Meanwhile Iverson and Tim were both underwhelming in the most important games.
