Iverson stans still trying to pawn this L off on Lebron. :mjlol:

19yo Bron played three minutes in the game, shooting 1-1 (a three-pointer), yet the first two pages are mostly about him. He lives in their heads. :dahell:

Iverson/Wade combined to shoot 4-20 in the game while Argentina's guards were 11-22 from 3pt alone. That's where the blame has to lie.

Duncan unfairly gets blame but the officiating against him was wild bad all tournament long and especially in that game. He fouled out in just 20 minutes and this is international ball where other bigs get away with all sorts of rough play.

Tim Duncan let American down
It's always annoyed me how he 100% escaped criticism from that team. Any other top ten player in their prime goes down in flames like that and it'd be an eternal stain on their career. Duncan is the most teflon player in history.

And the fact that it was Manu his teammate shyttin on em. You right tho Duncan def protected I remember when ZBo dominated him in a 1 v 8 seed upset and nikkas was actin like Timmy was a senior citizen to duck smoke when he was 33 :mjlol: People forget Grizz tanked the last few games restin they starters when they had playoff locked up so they drop to 8 they wanted that matchup. ZBo was lickin his chops wantin that matchup then smacked em up :picard: aint that right @Remote :youngsabo:

Play Richard Jefferson instead of Amare, Lebron, and Carmelo brehs

It was either this or the PR game a reporter asked Melo what happened and he was like "why you asking me, I wasn't out there :rudy: " lol

He got away with a lot of "rough play" without getting whistled against Argentina: moving screens, extra defensive contact on the perimeter and jostling in the post. He could've easily picked up his fouls earlier in the piece. They were certainly more strict on what they called in the paint, but there was only one call they really got wrong on him, three were clear fouls and another one was a 50/50 call.

Ultimately though, that was on him for not adjusting throughout the tournament (it's not as if he didn't have multiple games to play smarter), and unnecessarily picking up his 4th foul midway through the 3rd quater when they were down by double digits in the SF.

To be fair to Duncan though, Team USA were trash on defense and couldn't really get into any rhythm on that end of the floor, which forced him to be more physical to set a tone. Marbury and A.I., especially, were downight horrific - too much ball-watching and just generally failed to stick to their assignments. The guards rarely gave him the ball in good position on offense too, because they had too many slashers on the team and not enough floor spacing, which only compounded his frustrations.

It's crazy I saw a stat that Iverson shot like 35 percent from the floor in the Olympics :aicmon:
He and Marbury were ultimately the reasons why they lost. Neither could adapt to FIBA play, on both ends of the floor. That really was the turning point for Team USA where they steered away from those type of guards and for good reason. I know a lot of A.I. stans back then wanted to wipe that Olympics campaign from existence.

Why point out the players in the title when larry brown was the main reason they lost?

If you can't coach younger players then you should have given the coaching spot to someone else.
This. Anyone who actually watched those Olympics could tell you that. Even Melo & Wade agreed with that sentiment.
