Negative. Im successful and only 25. Only gonna go further in my career and education. But....I dont agree with having to give it 10000 percent, first in, last out etc.

Its who you know in a lot of cases

youre 19....did you even do anything careerwise yet?

your outlook will change once you enter the professional world.

the hardest workers get screwed.

Im not saying give up on yourself. But I dont think ppl should literally dedicate their life to their career.

Just my opinion

This.

You'll see people that work harder then everyone else, they work late at night and on weekends. But they don't get any more ahead then the people who are working 9-5. At the end of the day it's more about the appearance of how hard you work rather than how hard you actually work

kinda echoing what the article is saying.

As noted it's hard, you may be doing something wrong. Working harder is usually not the solution (actually working harder is usually the solution for when things are going well). Doing something differently (up to and including giving up and trying something else) is usually the right answer if it just feels all too hard and has done for a long time

No one cares about working hard, its about working better. Hard work being a path to success is a false consciousness and slave mentality.

explain further bro?

A lot of people view the 'american dream' of success as attainable through working hard. Hard work to me means lifting those boxes faster, overstudying for a test, etc. Hard work gets you no where. Results are what get you things. Work better, not harder. Make a study guide for that test instead of reading a textbook over and over.

A false consciousness is thinking the way of one group without being in the group. Thats why many working class white people support the gop for instance. They think if they keep working hard they will be rich, when in reality they will need to work better, which means taking a risk or bringing something new to the economy.

"False consciousness is the Marxist thesis that material and institutional processes in capitalist society are misleading to the proletariat, and to other classes. These processes betray the true relations of forces between those classes, and the real state of affairs regarding the development of pre-socialist society (relative to the secular development of human society in general)."
