2Chainz being more popular than Nas means nothing. Nas been around 20+ years and 2Chainz is a new rapper. You might as well say "let's see where 2Chainz career is 20 years from now".

Fred.

The amount of years either has been around isn't the point. If people truly believe that record sales = popularity, Nas is more popular according to them. In 2012, would that be accurate.

2Chainz isn't a new rapper. He's only new to people who aren't familiar with Playaz Circle and him originally being Tity Boi.

I'm familiar with who he is, he's a new rapper in the grand scheme of things.

I'm not really understanding the relevance of him being more popular right now, today, when he's arguably the most "on" he's ever been vs Nas, who has been around since '91, and they sold damn near the same amount.

I posted the initial statement because people argue that record sales are a measure of an artist's popularity.

Damn, 50's last flop sold more than this :pachaha:
Dudes worst is better than the new hottest rappers best?

1 mill a week to 150K a week though :comeon:

There's that...and also the fact that was 3 years ago (in a steadily declining market)....also, there's the fact that 50 pulled a gimmick move that's no longer allowed by Soundscan in order to cook the books and make the first week look bigger to save face...he released a week early on itunes, had the charting of the album delayed so that those true first week digital sales (45K) could be added to the next full week's physical and digital sales numbers..

50 Cent's "Before I Self Destruct" iTunes Marketing Exposed, Digital Sales Included W/ 160K Projections

Like an NFL coaching staff making in-game adjustments on the fly, Interscope's Jimmy Iovine and Steve Berman did some last-minute maneuvering around the release of 50 Cent's Before I Self Destruct, working out a one-week exclusive with iTunes for the digital album, to take effect Nov. 10. In return, iTunes agreed to go against its standard policy and "locked" the album, with only the single available a la carte, selling 46k album downloads during the exclusive window. Additionally, the compilers of the charts agreed to include the initial iTunes sales in the total for first week of general release, which is now looking in the 140-150k range

Popularity just means visibility in which case 2chainz is more popular than Nas.....record sales is a show of how much people really fuk with you, have faith in your product and trust you will give them good shyt....with his last album Nas regained a lot of trust and bought back a lot of nikkas who's faith he lost....with 2chainz album?nikka broke that trust already:damn:...visibility gets u those nice fairwhether dikk riders u still need to be succesful tho:manny: u can't really knock either
