But 65% of the workers are minority’s especially in cities like nyc and la so that will be hurting them
2018 and black people still get arrested for just sitting at the counter...i thought this problem was solved before i was born...amerikkka sure fooled me...fukked up thing is i dont believe we could get a new civil/human rights movement going if we needed one...
Starbucks ceo: Reprehensible outcome in Philadelphia incident
Dear Starbucks Partners and Customers:
By now, you may be aware of a disheartening situation in one of our Philadelphia-area stores this past Thursday, that led to a reprehensible outcome.
I’m writing this evening to convey three things:
First, to once again express our deepest apologies to the two men who were arrested with a goal of doing whatever we can to make things right. Second, to let you know of our plans to investigate the pertinent facts and make any necessary changes to our practices that would help prevent such an occurrence from ever happening again. And third, to reassure you that Starbucks stands firmly against discrimination or racial profiling.
In the coming days, I will be joining our regional vice president, Camille Hymes—who is on the ground in Philadelphia—to speak with partners, customers and community leaders as well as law enforcement. Most importantly, I hope to meet personally with the two men who were arrested to offer a face-to-face apology.
We have immediately begun a thorough investigation of our practices. In addition to our own review, we will work with outside experts and community leaders to understand and adopt best practices. The video shot by customers is very hard to watch and the actions in it are not representative of our Starbucks Mission and Values. Creating an environment that is both safe and welcoming for everyone is paramount for every store. Regretfully, our practices and training led to a bad outcome—the basis for the call to the Philadelphia police department was wrong. Our store manager never intended for these men to be arrested and this should never have escalated as it did.
We also will further train our partners to better know when police assistance is warranted. Additionally, we will host a company-wide meeting next week to share our learnings, discuss some immediate next steps and underscore our long-standing commitment to treating one another with respect and dignity. I know our store managers and partners work hard to exceed our customers’ expectations every day—which makes this very poor reflection on our company all the more painful.
Finally, to our partners who proudly wear the green apron and to customers who come to us for a sense of community every day: You can and should expect more from us. We will learn from this and be better.

I don't know about them only understanding violence,they respect money and power and individually most of us have none
But you are right in many instances,they will take the L in a lawsuit because to them it helps their brand and money overall. They probably enjoy news of racism in Macys and Starbucks going viral. Why? Because it won't keep most cacs from shopping there,but hopefully it will keep black people from going,which is exactly what they want.
These cops are white supremacist soldiers like Tariq says,as blacks we need to see the bigger picture sometimes. It's not as simple as these cops don't like you because you are black. These cops are working under the will of the government and tax payers of certain areas. They don't wan't black people in certain areas and in certain establishments. What better way to keep you out then to harrass you? Every black person knows there are certain areas you will be harrassed by cops if you venture there. Sure youll be let go,probably not shot,but thats not the main goal. The goal is to harrass you,and hopefully youll spread the word to your black friends not to go and hang in that area or establisment.
This is about white flight,and the fact white people often stop going to places once the become our places too. We have to start thinking bigger about racism,when you see it like this it's just as offensive,but lets you know its bigger than isolated incidents,or just bad law enforcement training. You can never clean up the force of bad apples because there will always be boundary lines set up,and they will be told to enforce them.
Dude I'm 40. From my experience words or lawsuit never hurts them. They did everything based on violence so yes that is the only thing they understand. You never worked or went to school with a disrespectful cac? I have. I beat the breaks off a few of them and I'm sure they never went at any black hard again. The thing is most of them think they can say and do anything to black people. Because quite honestly, the majority of black people won't do anything back. Oh they will talk a big game but soon as a cac come around they are very docile. It's crazy how black people will go in on each other in a heart beat, but want to keep the peace with cacs. This is very disturbing.
These white supremacists are just bullies. You can't stand and do nothing to bullies because with common sense they are just going to keep doing it. I mean if somebody let you slap them in face and they don't anything about it, you would keep doing it right? This is of course if you had a sadistic mind of a cac.
To your point of them not wanting us in their places of establishment. Doesn't it concern you that black people always want to go where they are not wanted? Why, is the question I beg? Why do you want to be around pasty corny people that don't like you unless you can entertain them some how? I remember someone posted about a restaurant in NY that had code words when black people came. They would give them the worse seats in the house and some had to share seats. If a black restaurant did that, they would go out of business. Black people wouldn't take that, but from whitey it's fine.
As a people we have to re-condition the majority of black people's mind that white is not a God. Cube said it best. "Stop trying to act like a white or Jew, who are they to be equal to" ?
