You know what, I gotta give Bozy "get him outta there" Ennis. He really helped revive Stephen Fulton's career post Inuoe
Changed his style from a backfoot jab jab jab fighter that rarely used his right hand, into a way more aggressive come forward counter puncher. Looks like a totally new fighter. But IMO jury is still out on Fulton because it could just be that Fulton has Figueroa's number and is a matchup advantage for him
Still looked shaky against Castro. But fukk it, I wanna see Fulton vs Shu Shu now. That Philly vs NYC crowd would be awesome
Watch we won’t get that u til 2027 lol
Every timeThomas Taylor makes it about himself at least once every fight now
I gotta give Benavidez credit in this fight
Did his power get nullified moving up to 175 and facing people his size? Yes... But it was still a great performance. One thing I would say that almost no one is saying about last night was that Benavidez is a very very underrated defensive fighter. There was times where Morell was struggling to throw combinations because of Benavidez' subtle head movement and the ability to catch punches with his gloves. Benavidez was rarely hit clean in that fight, and when he was, Morell spent alot of energy and had to sell out to do it
That defense is going to be necessary at 175. I do think he can win a title someday at 175
Not sure I can call a fight in which David was rocked multiple times and hit with 140 power punches a very good defensive performance. It seemed to me anytime Morell really let his hands go and threw with bad intentions he was able to touch David often. He just didn't do it enough because he's not a very good defensive fighter either and had to be cautious. Which is why I already expected him to be hesitant and give rounds away on inactivity.
It wasn't until he rocked benavidez that he started to dig deep and throw more. But still nowhere near enough. In the later rounds benavidez's legs were completely shot. His punches had zero power behind them. But Morell was too exhausted himself by then to really take advantage. If benavidez was in there with bivol or beterbiev he wouldn't have made it 10 rounds. This was the first fight where you could see nervousness creep in to benavidez's face. Once them legs started giving away and morell started pressing he looked ripe for knockout blow.
The 2nd half of this fight was an extremely bad look for benavidez. It exposed everything I already thought about him. He's a weight bully with a vulnerable defense and a shaky chin. His main advantage over previous opponents was his size and stamina. And now it seems he has neither one. That's the real scary part about his two performances at 175. Forget the power loss. Dude's stamina in both fights has looked horrible. By the 6th round he had no power left at all. He's going to get exposed badly very soon. This fight solidified it for me.

. I saw that in his fight against Gvozdyk. This confirmed it. His youth and heart are carrying him at 175.
Yea that's really the main area I can give him respect. Even when he got rocked he came right back and kept fighting. He definitely has heart. But at 175 all that heart doesn't mean much if you don'thave the skills to match. He was lucky to be in there with a green fighter who was still too inexperienced to take advantage of his flaws. That won't be the case against beterbiev, bivol, or canelo.
David is a 175 Errol Spence. Right down to the poor footwork, average defense, and overrated power. And his exposal is gonna be just as brutal.
I'll commend him for going up to fight one of those guys but barring a major injury from Artur or Dimitri he's gonna take a sustained beating
Don't think that was the case as Morrel looked better in the last 3 rounds and DB looked kinda tired.the main event went how i expected. benavidez grinded morrell down. i think morrell didn't have the experience nor gas tank to fight like that all night.
