i just got soft spot for X that i don't got for Jay.

I used to be Jay's biggest fan till i heard all his former business partners told how he really was. that and blueprint three :scusthov:

wouldn't be surprised if jay really took d'evils to heart and went on a dark path, with really bright lights.

What the fukk did his former business partners say? That jay wasn't feeling his behavior and stopped fukking with him?
They sliced up everything perfectly. The "snake thing" was that after they sliced up everything, Roc-a-wear went on to grow and tripled it's value and Jay re-negotioating his deal for all his masters.

Besides that Dame Dash didn't say much and Hoffa said nothing.
We all know Dame wouldn't say shyt if Jay wasn't winning and he losing.

And on top of that, do people realize what happened with that split? Jay had the choice to roll out of Roc, or take Roc for himself as pres of Def Jam... and he told them, he'd completely leave the label to them under ONE condition. He wanted the publishing for Reasonable Doubt, cause he valued that album the most on some sentimental shyt. They coulda had the label and all the artists all to themselves, if they let him have that one album. They refused to do that, so they gave up a whole record label and roster, over one album. Dumbest business decision ever made.

DMX was the last rapper I officially stanned. His first 3 albums :lawd:

Def Jam marketed DMX as next Pac, and Jay-Z as next Big... that's why they were the biggest artists of that time.

I still don't get it what these cats are talking about.
The funniest thing is how Dame speaks, "Me and Jay fukked up a lot of money", the only one losing any money was him. Or when observers say Jay was greedy. Dame got exactly the artists he wanted, I don't know if he wanted Freeway and Kanye or not, I know that according to Blaze he wasn't treating Kanye very well. But he got Sigel & Diplomats, the vodka, the movie company, he sold Roc-a-wear shares and that was it. The big difference is what they did with the things they got from the split. Dame didn't get any new artists, his artists faded away after the roc, the movies died, the vodka died and he spent his up to a 100 million he was worth badly. While jay did the opposite in every regard.

only thing I'm really surprised about X is the fact that he's still alive considering his antics and he is probably the R(ealest)OAT

NY all day..Da Stead & BK..
They passed on him until the time was right. When a market opened up for that grimy shyt, they stuck X in a microwave, took a couple of big gulps, and then tossed his ass. They didn't outright market X as the next Pac, but the undertones were there. Not on style, but image wise.It was brilliant marketing.

X is talented, but he's not a franchise player. His short reign was during the weakest era in hip hop history.Reminded me of the NBA during that time when nikkaz like Juwan Howard was getting 100 million dollar contracts. Those late 90's were just a watered down period all around.

I dig some of X's work....."Slipping" is a top 20 rap song of all time IMO

And his verse on "nikkaz done started something" is still:ohmy: damn near 15 years later.Classic as fukk.

But his music never grew....he was a one trick pony.He served his purpose and once that generic street sound started to fade out, so did X
No..X faded himself out..and all that shyt happened within a year and a half...and X was generic street shyt?..that nikka was MAD creative...spit wit diff personalities...storytelling was crazy...all that...dude was NOT generic...and the street shyt ain't fade out till AFTER X burned himself out anyway...his downfall was him....people was prayin for X to do his thing..he just lost touch...

Who was Jay to be dictating terms in the first place? :rudy:

I hate having this discussion because nikkas look at it from Hov's perspective. Look at it from Biggs' & Dame's perspective. A founding member telling the other founding members he deserves 100% of anything when they all put in work is :upsetfavre: Jay wasn't talking that "these are MY masters" shyt back when he needed Dame & Biggs' startup money & they was the only dudes to believe in him huh? :stopitslime:
