X's reign was shorter but at his peak I just feel like his music was more entertaining and authentic than Jay Z's music from any era..

Jay was the first soft Brooklyn nikka to have the publics eye, before him we thought yal BK nikkas was all thoro. There's always been a MC each year over the past 13 years who was probably more bigger than Jay in terms of sales and both crossover/street appeal but Jay has probablybeen the most cosistent to stay within the top 3 the longest.

But yeah DMX had a monstorous run and it would have been interesting to see where he got had he stayed off drugs and developed further as an artist.

I love DMX but in no way is he seeing Hov. I will say this DMX in 98-99 was better than Jay in that same period, but only by an ant's dikk and even then it's arguable.
