97 for me as a kid was the year I stopped watching Nitro in favor of RAW. Before that I didnt even watch Raw, only nitro....I had the box though so I saw both companies PPV's for free

And for the record, nobody wanna say the name, but 97 was the beginning of Russo being the head writer. Dont let wrestling geeks tell you Russo is the worst when he brought in this piff. Those fans think the Attitude era was trash

1998 was more successful from a financial standpoint for all 3 companies, and that's mostly because of their great work in 97 paving the way

I prefer 98 WWF because of the more exciting midcard, thx to newcomers and new gimmicks comin thru (X-Pac, D'Lo, Edge, Gangrel, Christian, Venis, Snow). Compare this to Truth Commission, New Blackjacks, green D'Lo, horrible Kama, Boricuas, DOA, Neidhart, Sincere, Furnas/LaFon, Sultan in 97
