I said this before….the media/Twitter is not operating in good faith. The way people use the term “mass shooting” has changed

A “mass shooting” used to refer to a random person shooting up strangers in a public place. That evokes a completely different reaction than when the perp knows the victim and a shooting happens to result in multiple victims. It’s the difference between your next door neighbor killing his wife vs your next door neighbor is randomly killing people on your street.

When you report every ‘mass shooting’ in the literal sense, you’re essentially getting every state, city, and county’s local news. That ain’t healthy. Hence you have people ‘omg again! ‘.

Covering it this way is gonna have some terrible side effects

More people die from gun attacks in a single day than they do from dog attacks over the course of a year. But you got folks tmore concerned with banning certain breeds of dogs than gun control. This country is deeply unserious.

WILDLY fukking unserious. Half of the reason I would personally avoid confrontation of any sort out in the wild is that its unnecessary drama. The other half is a cerebral assumption that any cat I speak to might be strapped. I go into every store, restaurant, or any dwelling (even work) noting exists and my proximity to them in case of gunfire. Ever see some shady looking cats and start kinda zig zagging out of the spot hope that if shots ring out, if i'm the target, the bytches miss. The proliferation of guns makes it so I consider it in my daily life.

The United States is the largest source of guns entering Brazil that end up in the hands of armed bandits and drug traffickers, according to a Brazilian Federal Police report seen by Reuters.

In March 2022, companies in the United States exported more semi-automatic firearms to El Salvador than in any other month since March 2018, according to data provided by the United States International Trade Commission. In fact, U.S. semi-automatic firearms exports worldwide quadrupled from 2010-2020, jumping from around 100,000 pistols, and 9,000 rifles to around 404,000 pistols and 23,500 rifles over the period. In 2022, exports of semi-automatic rifles (including assault weapons like the AR-15 rifle) hit the highest number since the federal government began specifically reporting on the export of semi-automatic firearms in 2005.

Guatemala remains saturated with weapons: in a country of 17 million people (5 million boys and men between ages 15-64), more than 500,000 guns are registered, though there are likely many more unregistered weapons. And still, the United States continues to knowingly fuel this oversaturation of weapons in the region

This August, Mexico opened up a new front in its war against the cartels. In a lawsuit filed in U.S. federal court, Mexican authorities accused several major American gunmakers — including Colt, Smith & Wesson, and Ruger — of negligent business practices, alleging that their reckless sales and lax regulation of distribution channels have contributed to a surge of firearms into cartel hands. When someone walks into a school, mall, church, supermarket, ETC and just starts buckin random ppl, THAT IS A MASS SHOOTING. Columbine, Sandy Hook, ETC.
