I wanted the Democrats to win the Senate back also, but I will take the House victory as a major success for now.

The point that I was making is that whether the Republicans have 50 votes or 55 votes, it doesn’t matter. They are gonna still get their judges and cabinet appointees through.

Hopefully after witnessing the House being lost, some of these Republican Senators may start voting more independently because they see that their jobs may be in jeopardy come 2020.

The places that Trump’s racist tactics worked were in States that have always had racist issues, but even some of those states were extremely close. This next election in 2020 will be the real deal because more people will come out to vote against Trump’s re-election.

These dudes refuse to see the bigger picture. Thank you.

Happy at least the dems regained the House. It sucks that Pelosi will be the speaker. My district's rep (Tim Ryan) tried to give her a much needed challenge 2 years ago. But the reaction from establishment dems against Ryan's challenge was pretty fierce and ridiculous.

NO. Gillum ran a fine campaign. His "mistake" was being a Black man in a racist state. DeSantis was a horrible candidate. He won solely because of his race.

I know it's easy to blame racism and it certainly had an impact, but Obama won that state twice. A Dem can't win in FL by attacking Trump, in the same way Manchin would never win in WV by attacking Trump. Dude basically ran a national campaign against Trump when he should have just stuck with Florida issues and ignored Trump.

You can’t that simply compare a state wide election to a presidential election. Obama won Florida twice. Abrams got remarkably close to winning. I understand close doesn’t count, but it sure does as a predictive quality. Obama was able to play the media game to give him A+ name recognition overnight and was able to significantly improve voter turnout when he was on the ballot. If that black man or woman can reach the emotional psyche like Obama did and make a presidential election into a ‘moment’, then it changes voter turnout and transforms what we know. What you typed describes both John Kerry & John Edwards.
