The absentee votes are counted. Lamb leads by 627 votes.
Counting of the election day and absentee votes in PA-18 is now complete, and Democrat Conor Lamb is poised for a stunning upset with a 627-vote lead over Republican Rick Saccone.

There are some remaining votes to be counted – provisional ballots and any military or overseas ballots, which may currently still be in the mail but must be received by the counties by March 20.

There is no mandatory recount for this district, but a candidate may request a recount by precinct with petitions from voters. They have five days after the county completes its computation to do so.

Here are the current vote totals, with 100% of precincts reporting:

  • Conor Lamb, Democrat: 113,813 – 49.8%
  • Rick Saccone, Republican: 113,186 – 49.6%
  • Miller, Libertarian: 1,379 – 0.6%

Looks like we won't know for sure who won until next week. :martin:

If Democrats can come out of this Trump debacle with a congressional majority, the presidency in 2020, an utterly destroyed Republican Party, and no more Hillary....this might just be a net gain for them.

Other than the tax cuts (which any Republican would have done), I don't see Trump getting much else passed.

Gorsuch would be the only real kick in the ass. Hopefully Kennedy can hold out a few more years.

So you're telling me spending your time mostly in Hamptons and Martha's Vinyard won't help you win house majority :skip:

I'm sure Tom Perez is on it :mjlol:
in fairness, the suburbs is how Trump won.

Saying that, the Dems are not the party for the working class. They are just our only choice.

The GOP has a problem. A big one.

They passed their tax cuts and during their failure to repeal obamacare they managed to make it more popular.

As a result, they don't seem to have the grand unifier they once held.

Tax plan is going to come back and bite them in more ways than one too.

but there are different levels to the working class as well. working class voters in PA18 are more socially conservative than they are fiscally liberal. the lesson is the same as before. white socially conservative democrats are needed to compete in white working class areas. these people tend to be more fiscally moderate as well.

As long as the DNC stay far away from the Clintons.. no letting them campaign no nothing they will win out right including the 2020 election..

Also they got to drop divest themselves from Pelosi too

I think if all minorities voted regularly there are a enough of them (non-racists) to win in a lot of areas

Well here's the conundrum no one wants to admit, which is the basis of the "I can't fukk with Hillary" section of the Democratic part.

Policies that would need to be implemented to ensure minorities are regular voters will drive white voters away, because....white people...

Agreed. I think that's a harsh reality for the I want policy that only targets black folk crowd.

But I think there needs to be an understanding that the majority of policy that helps us as a people involve improved social programs, workers rights, wage increases, access to healthcare and public education.

It should be little concern that it will also help non blacks as well. But we know that isntcthe case.

I think you read my post wrong.

Everything you just typed in the bolded is opposed by white people. The things that push black voters away brings white voters in and vice versa.

So how do you propose we engage minority voters in rural areas consistently?
