i know in white liberal states like Mass its surprisingly common for republicans to get elected as long as they play the whole "socially liberal, fiscally responsible card". i think mass and maryland are both pretty wealthy states as whole which somewhat explains that.
the main difference is MD has a much larger black population so im not sure how that changes the equation

what are your voting machines like? ive voted two places in MA, and its always the same thing. fill out a big piece of paper and then it gets sucked into a machine on my way out the door
