Just imagine all the extra bullshyt that would be happening right now if there wasn't any early voting :martin:

When Democrats get back in power, establishing voting rights has to be a priority :stopitslime:

Yeah man. Voting holiday, same day registration, vote by mail, extended hours/days, restoration of rights for convicted, and an investment in more polling locations (especially in the areas that have populations that have been historically disenfranchised). And fix the fukkery from the 2013 VRA decision.

I truly understand why people are disconnected from voting though, outside of the high profile races, the matters are often so layered in minutiae and complex, seemingly arbitrary policy decisions, some of it was hard for me to connect to, at all. People just don't care, and don't know why they should care, the lower down the socioeconomic scale you go. People who live day to day are going to find it very hard to connect with the importance of a yes or no on a measure to consider automatic raises for City Council members, from 2020 on, or any of those types of measures.

Felt good to vote against a right wing tea party birther guy, who should have been removed from the bench a long time ago

"Kreep, who declined an interview request, has been a highly controversial figure, initially due to his pre-election lawsuits challenging former President Barack Obama's citizenship. Obama was born in Hawaii, but Kreep has continued to question Obama's birthplace in more recent media interviews.

Then last year Kreep was also given a "severe public reprimand" from the state's Commission on Judicial Performance. That is the highest punishment from the body short of removal from the bench. The commission found Kreep guilty of 29 counts of misconduct, including campaign law violations and inappropriate remarks from the bench such as comments on the attractiveness of attorneys in his courtroom"

For people who follow the Supreme Court, it was immediately obvious that that VRA decision was somewhere between Citizens United and Trumps election levels of devastating for US gov't legitimacy.

I found out much later on that Roberts had been trying to get that section of the VRA thrown out since he was working in the Reagan Administration:martin:
