Not even that. Just another case for a graduated licensing system. Keep kids out of cars w/x amt of horsepower, no RWD, etc until they are ~22 or so. Do more in depth driver's ed training and make licensing more stringent. This prob would not have happened if dude was in a Corolla, his parents are idiots for putting him behind the wheel of a god damn STi witha PERMIT

He crashed because he was high. He wasn't fully sober to handle driving at 110 MPH. At higher speeds, small steering mistakes are larger and correcting errors at high speeds is harder to do. Plus, he was an inexperienced driver.
He could have crashed even when going 15 MPH, but a crash would not have been fatal.
What does it do? It's his punishment for killing three people.

You said yourself he was inexperienced. What makes you think he would have been able to handle the car any better sober, beign that he has pretty much no driving experience AT ALL?
