I want to say bof stasticis support it.... But most of the ppl I know, who made it out the gutta lived in low income communities yet had access to or saught out decent to great education systems. Myself family included.

Many of the bum nikkas I know are from the burbs. I have childhood friends from the burbs who sought the hoodrat life growing up. Now they barely have a HS degree. But I was the one who was actually raised in trap houses. :yeshrug:

DOESNT THE BURBS PROVIDE
GOOD EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES?

@Turlast

Did you remember his name from the series, and piece it together yourself?

In reading the description of of his story as a child, his mother did what she could do to help him in school. . She identified the resources that were available to them, and took advantage of them. Proactive parent. Unfortunately, that's not always enough.

But if more parents did this, it will yield good numbers over a larger populous.. No matter what, there will always be those who fall through the cracks, even if things are done right.

I understand your position here and it's overlooked by many. Access to information and people around you to guide you is critical.

Above the fray.
Culture is a hard ass thing to get away from

The brief details of the show segment doesn't mention his Father. Don't know if he was in the picture then or now. Reporters have omitted present fathers from news features before, so I can't call it.

If his Father wasn't in the household when he was a kid, that would have been a huge void and another barrier in front of him. Especially when he got to be a certain age, and nobody there to protect him from, and warn him against running the streets.
Again, from the brief info given, seems like his Mom did what she could. She plugged him into existing resources to supplement his education, and address behavioral problems.

Just read this story. Ran all those involved down and arrested them all.. Good shyt.. More funding is needed just to teach kids shyt their parents could've taught them for free.. All disagreements don't need to be handled with violence.

It’s not the government’s job to raise kids, and instill values. We always want to throw money at everything. Who is going to teach them if they get funding? School? They don’t listen in school.

They definitely tried, but they were within the boundaries of the law.. Look up the Highland Park Illinois shooting that took place last July.. The shooter is in jail and the father was charged. Both were from the same state, one followed the law within their perspective state, the other didn't.

It almost looks as though theres a correlation btwn poor educational opportunities and violent crime, in our community. A predictable one.

But i could be reading too much into it :yeshrug:

Meh. I’m tired of hearing that shyt.

There are cultural issues within the community and the longer we deflect the longer the problem persists.

Until we denounce, fukk it, DESPISE hood culture it don’t matter how much education or opportunities you have…. if your buddy ain’t shyt but you feel beholden to ‘keep it real’ you just as liable to get caught up. See the Alabama player, see Cowboys player kelvin Joseph, see Ja Morant’s goofy ass :martin:

Hell I could even talk about Coach Prime cozying up to rappers who push poison and gang culture. Or regular culdesac living 9-5 folk talkin bout opps and gang gang and not snitching :snoop:

It’s deeply systemic—-internally—-and we need to stop putting it off on others

Unless he has a developmental issue, he must have not had books, or educational television at home. My parents gave us those card board books when we were young, and we had all the Sesame St. videos. Hell, one of the games we played was “school.”

There is a major problem if you can’t pass Kindergarten and 1st grade. And what parent isn’t checking their kid’s backpack after school for assignments, and announcements?
