RIP to breh. Assuming the oic posted is him, I am no more scared of rides today than before this incident. He clearly did not fit. The operator should have checked him once and told him to kick rocks.

I agree with the bolded. Everyone is being reactionary but the key lesson here is to abide by the height and weight restrictions. There will probably be a heightened period of ride safety for a bit because of this.

I’m a tall guy and I used to get paranoid on certain rollercoasters where you come down and go under another section of the track. I reflexively duck cuz it always looks way too close to my head. I have no idea how people raise their arms on rides.

Just straight negligence

RELATED: Teen dies after fall from drop tower ride at Orlando's ICON PARK, authorities say

He said his son was 6 feet, 5 inches tall, and weighed 340 pounds.

"This one particular ride said, ‘We can take you, come on! Get on!’ No one else allowed him to get on the ride, so I’m wondering what happened between now and then that made them say, 'Come on, get this ride!"

I've been there.. I've seen the ride restrictions for height etc for this ride

it's right next to the Slingshot ride .. they shouldn't have let him get on.. And hopefully with the Summer approaching all the parks will use this to remind their employees about safety precautions etc

Rollercoasters go through something called pull through testing before it is opened. They are slowly winched around the track and a device is built around the cars. It is to verify nobody can touch track supports. It is all an illusion. In the coaster enthusiast world we call them head choppers. You can safely lift your arms up.

I was in line to get on the Spider ride with my little cousin and they kicked a lady off because they couldnt get the seat belt latch to close. And that ride is no where near as dangerous as this one from Icon Park. Just pure negligence. You arent running lazer tag you sending people into the sky.

Just absolutely tragic and the dude in charge of making sure everyone is secure is an idiot. I was waiting for him to go around and push down to make sure everyone was locked in but he just starts the ride suddenly.

No wonder the young breh was confused, scared and caught off guard. You hundreds of feet in the air suddenly and know you’re not locked in but its not shyt you can do about it. :snoop:

It is why a part of me thinks caning people has its merits. A lot of emphasis is placed on making people fear failure... but there are times where failure is something that needs to be feared.

I think what gets me heated about this is it is down to attitude. I don't think the results would change if you got adults in their 30s doing the same job.

I'm sure most people have experienced dealing with a colleague who makes a fukk up that is down to them being deliberately careless. What I mean by this is they're aware of the process, but they don't follow it because "what are the odds of this bad thing happening" is the thought that runs through their mind.

While this accident is tragic, the amount of engineering that goes into these rides for safety is well regulated. Most accidents occur through negligence or people not adhering to the ride restrictions

At his size at that age he could’ve been a real problem later. Things like this that make me hope and believe in a God, one that’ll let you live a dream after this life where he makes it to the league and becomes everything he was hoping to be.
