#LWO Ya'll know I clown but I can't help but :salute: this man and his greatness. 17 years of excellence. :lupe: The early 2000's Spurs series, Pacers, Kings, rape case, Detroit debacle, 40 point game streak, 81, outscoring Dallas, Shaq feud, the two-piece, the Kwame years, the redemption :blessed:, the Gasol trade, the Celtics rivalry renewed, the Magic and Fisher's 3.

:to: 2 more years of greatness. We were all witnesses.

All that Money is VANISHED from y'all's cap space now baby girl :lolbron:

Like that tweet said.. Most expensive farewell tour the NBA has seen:russ:

Scenario 4: Renounce everyone but Kobe; Kobe takes $20 million

Scenario 4: Kobe Takes $20 Million

Player Salary Salary Cap

Steve Nash $9,701,000
Robert Sacre $915,243
Kobe Bryant $20,000,000
Draft Pick $911,400
Minimum Cap Hold $507,336
Minimum Cap Hold $507,336
Minimum Cap Hold $507,336
Minimum Cap Hold $507,336
Minimum Cap Hold $507,336
Minimum Cap Hold $507,336
Minimum Cap Hold $507,336
Minimum Cap Hold $507,336
Total $35,586,331 $62,100,000
Cap Room $26,513,669 ENOUGH FOR ONE

This scenario assumes that Kobe Bryant, who has already said he will not take a pay cut, willingly takes a pay cut of about 33 percent, for a starting salary of $20 million. Good news, Lakers fans — in this scenario, your favorite team has enough cap space to sign one free agent to a maximum salary contract, with a little bit of room left over to sign a supplemental player as well.

Extremely optimistic result: LeBron

More likely result: Carmelo

Kobe deserves it and he should get no less. He is a loyal player and has helped bring 5 championships to an A-list organization.

If you've been at your job for as many years, have out-performed the other employees there, have won achievement awards etc...and all of a sudden, your job suggests to you that in order for the company to be more successful (aka the corporate CEO's, Founder, President, VP etc. to make more money), you should consider a big pay cut so that they can make way to bring in another good employee from a different company...you're telling me you'd be okay with going from let's say $100K a year down to $60K?!

If you tell me you'd be okay with that and not look for another job where you can do what you love still and make the same money, then I'll be shocked.

I bought a Carbon 15 when I was 18
1) I don't see how any true Laker fan can like this :mindblown: y'all ain't gonna get any good FA's paying Bean 25 mill in his damn 19th NBA season:heh:

2) Kobe is NOT the biggest draw in the NBA at this point, that honour goes to LeBron and the Heatles.

 Y'all will realize how shytty this deal is soon enough.
Trust me they already know it, they just tryna put on a show :laff: :russ:

:heh: at people acting like 26 mil is a lot for 11 roster spots. Even with 26 mil left after Kobe, if you pay another max player 17m you are only left with 9 mil for 10 roster spots. Now your starting five is average compared to other title contenders (even with a healthy Kobe)and your bench will be trash. Good for Kobe though, stayed in purple and gold for 20 years...wow

I'm a Kobe fan but that's a terrible contract. He should've done what Timmy did, and get a pay cut, so the team can become stacked. If he doesn't get another ring, not sure what the point of coming back is. Especially if the last year he's looking :flabbynsick:

you idiots really think nba titles are everything?

NO ONE ON THIS FORUM WILL TAKE LESS TO HAVE A CHANCE TO WIN A TITLE. Kobe is the reason why the Lakers are making billions, why take less? He'll still go down as a top 5 player. A lot of you mad at a black man taking as much as he can? I swear this forum keeps exposing the cacs. :smh:

:ld: was hoping for some kind of latter-day Duncan contract, with maybe some ownership or plush front office gig after he retired as basically some extra dough on the backend...if I'm understanding this right, this is MORE than what they could have paid him if they just let the current contract expire, use the capspace of this year year's $30million coming off the books to sign free agents, and then resign a new 2year deal using his bird rights and just pay the luxury tax for going over? Basically, the only reason they would extend so early is to pay him more?

edit: just read that it wouldn't have made a difference because of his cap hold

Upcoming NBA tax threatens*dynasty in South Beach - Ian Thomsen - SI.com

CBA reality: Will the new tax pull apart Miami's Big Three? - NBA - Sporting News

http://miami.cbslocal.com/2013/06/24/cap-space-shrinks-again-for-heat/

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/20...06/sixth-man-nba-cba-nicolas-batum/index.html

As its payroll stands today, Miami is committed to seven players in 2014-15 at a total cost of $78.4 million.
The bulk of that guaranteed money is scheduled to go to LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh, who will be paid $61.4 million altogether that season.

It's important to note that Miami's payroll for 2014-15 does not yet include low-salaried players who are crucial to its championship hopes -- contributors like Ray Allen, Shane Battier, Mario Chalmers, James Jones and Rashard Lewis, each a member of the Heat's current team. Those five players are making a combined $14.9 million this season.

Let's say that Miami, in order to remain in title contention in 2014-15, will add $14.9 million in cost-efficient role players to the seven men already contracted for that season.

(The Heat may have to pay more than $14.9 million for similar complementary talent two seasons from now, but let's stick with that conservative figure for the sake of argument.) Here's what it means: If their ambitions remain high and they're able to keep costs as low as possible, then the Heat will be responsible for a payroll totaling $93.3 million -- and that's before the brutal impact of the repeater tax kicks in.

At the conclusion of 2014-15, the repeater tax will make its dreaded debut by punishing teams that have paid a luxury tax for four consecutive seasons. Miami is on a path to be hit with an enormous penalty in the summer of 2015.

As a repeat taxpayer, the Heat will be facing the highest incremental tax rates in NBA history. If, for example, the luxury-tax threshold is established at $75 million -- a highly optimistic gain of roughly $5 million from this season

-- the Heat could be faced with a tax bill approaching $48 million. In total, they would be paying $141.3 million for 12 players.
