Couldn't that have signed him after they signed everyone else? I'm not an expert on NBA contracts, but isnt that how Bird rights work? Where they can go over the cap to sign a player that's been there?

Just question if you're Kobe and already made over 200 millions dollars in career, still have endorsements, would you take a paycut let's say 25/2 2 years to give your team a better chance to acquire talent the sixth ring, or just get richer and create a more of a burden for your team to get some help?

Only loser beta males have this mentality. This sort of question is an oxymoron to an alpha male like Kobe.

Why shouldn't the inferior players coming here take a pay cut to play with me? I'm the fukkin best player in the league and possibly ever. fukk I'm gonna take a paycut for lesser players to come and play with me? :dahell:

Its not about the money. Its about RESPECT. Being the highest paid on the team and the league lets everyone know the pecking order. I'm the big dog here and the rest of ya'll are next in line.

Oh maybe Kobe stans have some knowledge but ...

Kobe and his agent doing some fishy stuff telling teams (the Nets for sure and i am sure there are others... when there is smoke there is fire) not to draft him or else he would play in Italy... Kobe was going to play in a big market one way or another.

Ya know ya boy Kobe wasn't gonna go play for some small market team, he would have left that bytch once his rookie contract ended either way.
revisionism. Jerry West saw him practice and shyt on actual NBA veterans during the summer and wanted to take a chance on him. A scrawny unproven raw high school kid did NOT have the leverage to prevent teams from drafting him.

I believe that they would have had to renounce his bird rights in order to use all that cap room. If you could do it the way you suggested MIA coulda signed 3 other max players AND Wade in 2010. :whew:

I don't see the problem with Kobe takin 48mil. Just think about how much money he is generating for the Lakers by him bein on the team? Reportedly he generates over 70million per season for the Lakers, not to mention the seats that Kobe fills when the Lakers hit the road.

Getcha money Bean :salute:
