I know what the Lakers organization is. I also realize that external pressure can change things.

Great players have come and gone, but outside of Shaq, they all went out on their own terms.

Baylor - retired
West - retired
Chamberlain- retired
Abdul-Jabbar - retired
Magic - premature retirement
Kobe - retirement

I think Buss would've let Magic play as long as he wanted.

Of course he would he was only due a $1 million a season into the 2000s. :russ: And how many of those guys got reupped for top dollar when they were :flabbynsick:? shyt how many of them played during the salary cap era? How many didn't have a HOFers waiting in the wings to hand the keys too? How many were 35 coming off an Achilles tear?

No player, not even Kobe, is bigger than THAT franchise, period. Things don't bode well for them going forward if this is how they are gonna do business.

Stephen A Smith is on Lebatard's radio show and dude said he likes the deal and that the Lakers can still be a contender if they pair Melo with Kobe, Kaman, and Jordan Hill. Lebatard just asked him what the hell is he talking about putting that garbage team together.:russ:

well Stephen A a real black man

only cacs think a black man gettin his worth is somehow a rip off

Its only because of the salary cap that I care how much Kobe is getting. When these dumbasses re-sign Pau to a similar contract and the Lakers continue to lose in the first round. I don't want to hear shyt from you.

you can be happy they resigned him, but why act like the team is going to be doing anything worth a shyt after resigning him? its an expensive going away party for kobe and the lakers franchise. youre in here acting like the lakers are going somewhere with this deal because they can sign some guy like luol deng. if you are a fan of kobe, which most on the bandwagon were, then you have a reason to be ecstatic. if you are a fan of the lakers, then you should have the :beli: look on your face as you hear the news. this is the equivalent of the yankees bidding against themselves to resign derek jeter to his last deal, except that didnt hurt the team in the process because theres no cap

well here is the difference between me (black man) and you (cac)

I put myself in the position of the player not the GM or owner. If I was Kobe I'd want to be paid my worth. fukk taking some discount. I'd like to see all these cacs wanting brothas to not get paid their market worth take a pay cut at their job. You on the other hand are putting yourself in the position of the white man cutting the checks. That is why this idea is so foreign to you. I respect Kobe for gettin his money. Fukk these co0ns taking pay cuts just to please the cac fans. Its on the organization to find players to win alongside Kobe. It ain't kobe's job to give them his money to pay other players.

I'd like to see you give up part of your salary so your boss can sign another employee to help you do your job. :stopitslime:

these are JERRY BUSS' words

So did Jerry Buss know that Kobe was going to eat up more than half of that cap space they strategically planned for? :lolbron:

thats a fine stance to have. you cant have that stance, then in another post talk about how the lakers still can compete with this signing. which was my point, evidently not comprehended by you

:russ: This is why fantasy sports is so popular with them, it's like a slave master fantasy. "I'll take him for him, what can he produce for me, i'll pick him up, I own the right to him". Sound familiar?

Basically.

Like I said, in a vacuum, this deal doesn't make sense. But it was either pay or risk losing him.
