I think MJF is great but Punk smoked him in this segment. Granted, MJF had the tougher role considering he had to speak 80% more than Punk but he rambled too long and Punk used his mic time perfectly.
Still, considering it was like a 15-18 minute promo segment, he held his own nicely. And I think the winner of their eventual match will become the next AEW Title contender.
Yeah, against 90% or so of wrestlers, we'd probably be raving about MJF's promo despite the chaff in it. But this was definitely a big dog/little dog situation where a vet showed a younger guy how far he really has to go. MJF did fine though.
This match is way too long, which makes me think it's by design (also, giving MJF a little bit since he just talked about Punk having trouble putting guys away). I wonder if it'll continue to be played as a rust/age/fatigue thing, or if it'll eventually transition to a strategy thing (which WOULD fit with Punk's penchant for long ass matches in the past).
