For what its worth I had #1 a draw but the result wasnt a robbery in my opinion, and the 2nd was clear cut. You know damn well Ward systematically broke that man down

People who are shocked by Kovalev's approach have obviously neglected to watch his rematch against Alvarez and his bout versus Yarde. Kovalev has started to fight more conservatively under McGirt, taking power off his punches to save energy, and the goal being to avoid getting knocked out like he was against Ward and Eleider.

Of course Yarde was getting hit with harder shots, he's a bigger target with defense considerably worse than Canelo's, not to mention his general lack of experience. Mind you, Canelo is the same fighter who languished on the ropes and dared Golovkin to punch him, completely nullified Jacobs hand speed and power, and has now successfully walked down a legitimate title holder two weight classes above him.

There are criticisms to be made of this fight, but Kovalev, even at this stage of his career, would've been notable wins for either Bivol or Beterbiev. Canelo was able to secure the fight for obvious reasons, but it's ridiculous to try and turn this KO victory into a sort of stain on Canelo's record.

Rewatching this fight I don't think this was a good showing by either of them, I have canelo down by 2 rounds or so before the ko. Kkk was just trying to win on points , the type of shyt you would do in amateur or Olympic boxing not the pros it was effective for what he is now(washed) . For canelo , his gameplan for any other fighter without judge bias would equal a loss on the cards.
