You guys mostly hit on everything in regards to him getting hit too much, relying on his athleticism and what not but I think Boots power might be a bit overrated too. He doesn't seem to have one punch KO power like Tank or Bud or some of the guys at 154. He seems to be more of an accumulation guy IMO.

I went to the fight. One of the few times in the past few years I've gone as a fan and not press.........good turnout but he's really not as special as we thought.

Bam stole the show tonight.

"You got any more excuses ROOOO- uh..... Ennis!"

Antonio Tarver's breakdown on the fight.

For ya'll that want Jaron to switch trainers how do you feel about Antonio? I know he been wanting to coach high level talent.

Who would you like to see Bam fight in 2025?

Robert Garcia needs to stop this Inoue bullshyt for Bam. Bam would suffer a life altering beating. None of that "meeting half way", you've got to go to the champion's weight class. Right now, Chocolatito is the best fight to make for him at jr bw. The clock is ticking on Gonzalez' career so I'd have that fight. I would suggest the both of them do cards together next year and clean up the division THEN have a super fight in december for undisputed, but Chocolatito is 37 and I don't want to see him get beat before a Bam fight(that he's going to lose anyway). Martinez is also a good fight for him. He beat Ioka this year and Ioka was among the best in the division for years. I loved his fights with Nietes. So many options

Needs a coach with a coaches pedigree. Tarver talks from his point of view and how he would improve and not how the fighter should improve.

He would need a Buddy McGirt or Vernon Forest type.

no one did because he hasn't fought anyone during the entire 8 year period of his career. Boots has been a pro almost a goddamn decade and Karen is the only top 10 rated fighter he's faced. NO, not sanctioning body top 10, but ring ratings top 10.. 2 years ago I compared him to Randall Bailey. In the 90s, Baily was knocking out everyone with a 100% ko ratio at one point the first few years of his career. As soon as he stepped up the competition, he was losing and getting ko'd. They were comparing Bailey to Hearns early in his career. Boots defense has always been terrible, but the opposition he's fighting can't make him pay. Imo, boots is a more exciting/power punching version of Andrade. He gets to 154 with this style and he's going to get cooked
I know I have & I'm pretty sure @patscorpio & @LauderdaleBoss & others have said it for years

You know I respect your boxing knowledge but I think you're totally wrong on this. I said these exact same words about Spence. You can't have that kind of leaky defense where you're consistently eating clean shots. Someone at the elite level will expose that & stop you.

Lipinets was able to land some very clean right hands & he landed more than the clip shows. A natural WW like Bud would've had Boots in trouble if not on the canvas

Dulorme lands 2 clean right hands in this sequence before getting dropped:

Even Karen landed clean shots on Boots & exposed he has serious issues punching on the move & needs you in front of him to get his offense off. His current skill level that he's shown wouldn't be enough to beat Bud. It has nothing to do with thinking Bud's invincible but everything to do with levels

That Lipinets fight was when Boots was 23 & he still hasn't corrected this bro........

This feels like Deja vu because this is what most were saying about Spence when I & others mentioned he got hit clean too much back in 2016 & on. It doesn't matter how good a fighter's chin is. No one should be eating clean shots like that every fight; especially an elite fighter. The difference between him & Bud defensively is you can touch Bud up a little but he's not consistently taking big shots every fight like Boots. He also gets hit with the same type of shots which are a looping or sweeping right hands. Also punching with him works & we saw that over the weekend & with Karen

Against a fighter his size with power & especially an elite guy like Bud, there's no way he gets away with that. Boots looks offensively elite when you stand in front of him. We all saw what happened when someone gave him some lateral movement. He looked lost. Bud would turn him & counter punch him all night bro. His IQ is too high

honestly nakatani is a much more feasible goal to reach for a super fight than monster at this point

I agree fully. Inoue would probably want to fight in Japan too. And that timezone difference and travel can takes a toll. But Bam had a great performance tonight so Robert has him on the right track.

That's a very fair point. Especially at this level of Boots career don't want the wrong guy in your corner if he was to switch trainers. Also I wonder how Bozy would react too him switching trainers. That could potentially cause a rift in the family. And family issues can bleed into the ring sometimes and effect performance.

Now ya'll got me thinking. Trainers that I think would be good for boots if he did switch are Breadman, Freddie Roach, and Derrick James. Maybe Jose SR if boots just wants to focus on being strictly offensive minded. Breadman gives good technical advice and has trained slicked defensive fighters. Freddie Roach goes without saying and you mentioned pedigrees he has one of the best and Derrick James because he's also more technical than bozy in giving corner advice and I think in the Tank Vs Frank fight Frank was actually boxing pretty good until he got KO'd.

I still like Boots over Ortiz
i do too...i know we get on boots getting hit...ortiz against bohachuk was getting put through the wringer for 9 rounds and getting dropped twice before finally realizing making an adjustment to stick and move was an easier to win the last 3 rounds lol
