10k steps per day.

Don't those use the gyroscope to track movement, meaning you have to move your arms? Without GPS to track actual movement across distance some of those devices just wait for your arm to swing back and forth like a pendulum. I think you'd need a foot pod (device that straps to your show, to track the movement of your feet or a pedometer.
Watches should get the job done and do a rough estimate but if your holding a Stanley in your watch arm or walking with your arms on your head, folded or while holding a phone stationary they may miss steps so 10k might be 7600 (which is still good)
I know polar, wahoo and stryd and of course they measure speed and cadence and such. They also connect to devices we already own like watches or phones.
Walking is very underrated for overall health and weight management. Part of the reason Europeans tend to be slimmer than Americans (outside of quality of food and portion sizes) is that they walk far more than the average American on a day to day basis.
The US really needs to redesign some of its cities to be more walkable...
I've been doing about 9K steps daily since last September. What helps is if you can modify your commute to get in the steps. Cali's weather is pleasant year round so instead of taking a shuttle from my office to the bus terminal after work, I'll just walk 25-30 mins from my office to the bus terminal then take the 15 min bus ride home.
When I was in college/uni I was walking about 3-4 miles everyday between classes. It's a really good way to keep things in check.

No you can march in place and it will count your steps, and you don't even have to hold your phone in your hand, you can have it in your pocket.

I was talking more about the watches. The phone thing works the same but since it's in your pocket it always gets the movement.

I use a Fitbit versa 6 to track, love it and love the Fitbit app

Still using my Versa 3. Was hesistant to buy a new one after Google bought Fitbit. How are you liking the 6?
Its my first tracker got it on sale for like $50 a little over a year ago and love it.Stylish, light weight, battery life of over a week, easy to swipe through and understand the screens. Yea literally can't find a complaint about it.
