With 106 & Park, it didn't matter how big of an artist you were, it was a mandatory stop to promote music and movies. This was where fans really connected with the artists through the interviews and the performances. Even after AJ & Free, there were some real legendary moments like Nas and Jay Z performing together and the 50 Cent/Kanye face off.

The show fell off of a cliff taking not only Black music, but music as a whole along with it. 2013 was the last of 106 & Park. I know it went off air in like 2014 or 2015, but I mark the episode where Justin Timberlake was a guest as the point where it ended. I don't really remember any other big guests after this. I never saw the episode, only clips. This was also one of Rocsi and Terrence's last episodes. Then they got four new hosts, one of which was Bow Wow.

At this point, not only was 106 on its last legs, but music was no longer the same. Album releases were no longer events. The anticipation to see that song you had on repeat being performed live for the first time was no longer there. We could say social media and Youtube played a role, but these were huge platforms during 106's run. Youtube was where we caught that missed episode. We ran to social media to discuss what happened on 106.

Thoughts?

Anybody who gave a fukk about 106 & park after AJ & Free left must have been mad young

everybody and they momma stopped watching back then

by 2006 anything interesting on cable would be on youtube the next day

There wasn't some mass exodus of 106 after AJ and Free. That show was still watched and as I said there were big moments on that show even after AJ and Free left.

There were some dope freestyle Friday with Terrance and Rosci on there. Yeah Terrance was a cornball but the show was still watchable.

Rocsi was fine as a muhfukka back then

The landscape kinda shifted to where podcasts and online shows fill that void imo

Q45 and the light skin nikka were whack and couldn't hold a candle to the heights of where that show was. It wasn't even social media for me dem otha muthafukkas were just not it. I agree with this in the the way that I'd 'watch' it in that era was watching interviews on World Star the next day.

This. People were still very familiar with Big Tigger from Rap City so it definitely wasn’t some massive downturn like a recent Nicki single going from to ten one week to 160 the third week. It was a different story though when Rocsi and Terrence came along despite them having their own moments then.
