For the people who forgot this is the type of bullshyt we were getting when it started dying. They was desperate lol.
What made 106th and park popular was you didn’t have access to watch music videos on your own time. Your only options was mtv, bet, and sometimes vh1. So for black music you had to watch 106 and park to see music video debuts and new artist.
YouTube and podcast exist so there’s no point in watching. I thought 106th was corny when I was in school but I still watched it to see what the new music videos was.

Black networks like BET, BOUNCE, TV ONE creativity isn’t there..

I tried giving it multiple chances but on a Saturday afternoon I was trying to be outside balling or chasing girls, plus Ananda didn’t have much titties or shape to hold my attention.

These new kids need to understand that you had to get your homework done by 5PM so u can be ready for Rap City to come on.
5PM-7:30PM were 2 hours that u had to change the channel to BET.
Everyone and their mama watched 106 every night including the Saturday show.
On Sunday, it was Bobby Jones Gospel and Lift Every Voice for the morning and then BET would play some good movies for the afternoon while u got ready for school.
Y’all taking it back mayne.

whats the point? artists still make music videos, but not nearly as often as they did in MTV/BET/VH1's heyday.
videos are MUCH more explicit these days, and most songs are under 2 minutes.
