If Geno, Fitz and Petty weren't trash we wouldn't have reached for Hack in the second round...They won't carry 4 QBs, they're obviously not high on Petty so he's going to be the odd man out...

A franchise QB has been this organizations biggest need since Namath...The FO saw something they like in Hack so they pulled the trigger on him...That doesn't mean he doesn't have flaws...He has plenty and almost all of them have to do with his footwork...The kid doesn't lack talent or intelligence...

That said we never develop QB talent so I'm about 99% sure this kid will be a bust...The Jets are career DOA for QBs with fundamental issues...

He cant throw a spiral. The chances of Hackenberg ever even being average are minimal just based off of his college career alone. I dont mind taking QB's because as you said its our biggest need...I just dont agree with taking the one who couldnt complete passes in college in a round wherer you can fill immediate needs, which right now is obviously CB across from Revis.

For sure I get why they reached, but they reached for a completely flawed QB which is the same thing they did with Geno and Petty. Petty's a year in, so if they're that quick to give up on a project QB I don't see the reason to reach that high for a third developmental QB. Plus having three developmental QB's plus a starter means less reps for all of 'em, so they basically handicap the chances for these young cats to improve quickly. Hack at least has the tools to be a beast if he fixes the flaws, but imo he's also the least likely to fix the flaws just based on him showing little to no growth (regression really) at Penn...I know he has excuses, but it's still not giving me high hopes.

To me, Day two/three is for projects, day one on a win now roster...grab me an immediate contributor.

I mean, the one good year he had at PSU he was throwing the ball to Allen Robinson who has proven himself to be a high quality NFL pro. I get the issues with the sanctions, coach change and the o-line and all that, but anyone expecting Hackenburg to develop into a pro QB is really taking a leap of faith. He looks the part, but anyone expecting anything other than a #2 QB at best is doing themselves a disservice.

Hopefully they can IR him this year and keep Petty as the emergency guy.

I'm inclined to agree. Even my friends from PSU (who I hit up as soon as we made the pick) were like "ehhhh...he ain't a pro caliber QB but good for him." That said, the Jets set that expectation the second they picked him so high. So I think Jets fans SHOULD expect this kid to become a starting caliber player and hold the FO accountable if he doesn't become one because you don't waste a second rounder on a back-up.
