Employers exploit people more than ever, paying less for working more. They know you can't just leave and move on easily and get paid more money.

I apply to jobs online all the time, I get "thanks, but no thanks" or they want you to do some test bs for an hr and jump through hoops to get employed . I got years of experience (machinist, welder, fabricator, marines/homeland security specialized training, even went to college for business) and they wanna pay me the same wage as some random ass dude from the streets with no experience.

fukk is wrong with some of you? no ones saying that raisin it to 10 is gonna solve the problem of lower class. ill give you that. its much deeper than that. but that extra 100 a week is a lot to a lotta these people. who the fukk needs it more, the worker or these companies?

Not sure what you guys expect someone with no college education to make. His first step would be getting a real degree that he can apply in the real world. Raising the minimum wage just means this dude buys 2 pairs of shoes instead of one. You aren't really helping him long term. Education is the key element that he's missing.

Either it's his own fault, the government's fault, the company's fault, society's fault, etc. IMO this is a pretty unproductive way to think...assigning blame really doesn't do anything. More important is whether or not we (as a society) should proactively do something to help people in these situations, and if so what we should do about it.

I'm thinking is raising the minimum wage to $10 even going to be enough. it might help but eventually inflation will cancel it out. I'm making a little over 12 and even tho I'm lucky enough stay with my people's, it still wouldn't be enough to survive out here. decent spots go for atleast 1200 around here so you have to be making serious money to survive. and even if you're making around 15 you still might have issues like medical bills or rent or car problems or student loans. everybody struggling, even if not as bad as others.

I'm guessing you must live in NY or LA. My rent is $500 (one bedroom) and I could get a pretty big apartment for $700-800. Any more than that and you might as well buy a house.

I'm in south Florida, broward county. I'm sure down in Miami you can get something cheaper but nobody trying to live in a high crime area. ny and la worse. I've seen the places go for 2k over there.

I'd slap myself for paying 2k+ for rent, for that I better have a fukking mansion.

I literally can't find anything where I live over 1k unless it's an actual house (or a townhome in a nice area). Even in the relatively expensive cities in Michigan (like Ann Arbor) rent for an apartment still won't usually be over $1200 unless it's 3-4 bedrooms). Where I live now (Lansing) you literally won't see anything over 800 or so other than actual houses.

That seems pretty vague. Applying for better jobs? Going to college? Asking for a raise? Something else?
